" Judgement day is coming for Slade "

Some fans have already written off the Bluebirds manager.

One tweeted me before the kick-off at Shrewsbury, asking: ‘How long do you give Slade before he goes? He’s the most unpopular manager since Bobby Gould.’

It is, though, not the time to be giving Slade grief now.

City are three weeks away from a new Championship season – and his first judgement day cannot come until after those key pre-season fixtures against newly-promoted Watford (home) and Bournemouth (away).

They were the top clubs in Championship football last season and we can assess exactly where Slade is with his preparations after those two matches in four days.

Then a second judgement day will come at the end of August after City play Fulham (home), Queens Park Rangers (away), Blackburn (away), Wolves (home) and Nottingham Forest (away).

That will be a make or break spell for Slade. If City are competitive against the Hornets and the Cherries in friendlies and can earn three wins at least from those first five Championship games, there will be hope going forward.

If they look off the pace by the end of August questions will be asked.

City finished mid-table last season and now Slade must show this team are capable of a top six challenge.

Alright there ladies, gents, boys and girls

Thought I'd join up and ask you all about your manager. As an outsider looking in when he was appointed I thought it was because he was used to working to a strict budget at Orient and Tan had decided to tighten the purse strings. I didn't know what style he would play with for you.

Seeing this and other threads I get the distinct impression that the natives are restless and I'm just wondering why. Would you say he's been prudent in the transfer market and how would you describe the style of play under Slade?
