' CARDIFF CITY'S NEXT TARGET '

Sun Jul 19, 2015 4:11 pm

Russell Slade has made his next target a midfield general; a box to box, ball winning player.

Slade will be happy to go into the new season even if he only signs this player, the manager is going all out to concentrate on signing a player that will bolster our midfield.

With the squad still at Slade's disposal, I agree that it is the centre midfield that needs strengthening.

If we can keep the majority of the squad together then there is no need to have a major overhaul, we know there are players heading out and once two or three are gone then I expect we would make another signing on top of the midfield battler but until that happens I doubt we will see anyone else coming in apart from his number one priority of the centre mid.

Slade wants his man in Asap to get a pre-season with the rest of the squad and his working hard to get a deal done soon.

All Slade needs to do is give Gunnarsson a kick up the bottom and we have our battling midfielder! Isn't this the role DiKgacoi was signed to do? Could'nt Adeyemi have done this role? I know he wanted more regular first team football but if that type of player is what Slade wants then he could of promised him it

Bit confused but it looks like its gonna be falls out wide,Gunnar & new player in the middle. Dikgacoi on the bench is ok. As long as the new player is quality.

Completely agree with Slade on this. We are well stocked in all areas apart from a top CM at this level. If we can get one in, and Slade pulls his finger out, I still think we have enough in our squad to go up automatically.

We need at least one if not two quality strikers. After ALF, Guerra and Kenwyne leave we are left with no quality apart from Mason. We need this above all else. :bluescarf:

We've wanted a dominant midfielder for years ... not had a true midfield general since kavanagh .. here's hoping ...

Change Ameobi for Rally and I think that's close to our best side. Still nowhere near a Championship promotion side though.

Do u mind me asking you what u Base that comment on please? I've seen loads of fans go on about Slades league 2 signings. He's never bought anyone from that league. I fact in his time here he's bought 1 player from a lower league and that was the top scorer from the league below. I noticed he signed several premier league players...
Kennedy mcaleny okeefe ameobi

Gunnar, whitts, dico, ralls, Okeefe and one more singing. Surely one or two at least will have to go from this position alone? Honestly can't see the point in us singing Okeefe.

Great post by the OP its about time the head coach at CCFC did just that, coach, rather than playing Championship Manager and signing players for fun rather than purpose.

We have a good squad, now we just have to do what all successful squads do and that is to play to our strengths, both with formation and style of play.

Whitts, Dikachoi and gunnar must be in the top 20% of championship earners, then we have O'Keefe and ralls. We are now looking for a ball playing, tackling, box to box general    Thats good, as i expect nobody else is after one of those. Cattermole, Barton or Nolan have we not witnissed the last 12 months.. :o

Dropping quotes in the press but starting the season with a youngster that failed to make the garde at Arsenal (hardly a failure i know) and a season long loan from Newcastle smacks of taking the piss. Just shut up and say nothing is best.

Unless he can move on Whitts or the fat lad as well as ALF, Jones & Guerra i just don't see where it coming from.

wonder if we could entice someone like Abou Diaby from
Arsenal. hes out if contract and just keeping fit by training with them. keep him
fit and hes a box to box midfielder. unsure if he would drop to Championship
tho and suspect Prem teams to be looking at him
