An article regarding Dave Jones' time at the club.

For many fans, Dave Jones stands out as a turning point for Cardiff City Football Club. Jones became a hero to young fans for signing star players like Craig Bellamy and he even became a hero to the older fans thanks to his decision to ban Steve Tucker.

When the former Wolves boss took over, City had struggled in the lower half of the Championship following a relatively recent promotion for League One (Division 2 at the time) under Lennie Lawrence. Lawrence lost his job after finishing 16th during the clubs second season in the second tier.

Jones had a very difficult task on his hands, he needed to improve the teams performance with next to no budget, in fact he was actually expected to make a profit from the transfer market in order to keep the club afloat. In his first season he brought in the likes of Kevin Cooper and Darren Purse for a small fee while selling club idols Graham Kavanagh, Peter Thorne, Danny Gabbidon, James Collins and Tony Vidmar among many others to make money for transfers.

If Slade can get us mid table with this squad,I don't think Dave Jones would have a problem getting us promoted with the same players. As much as he wasn't always liked by everyone he done a good job while he was manager.
