Has to go really because of his wages but as aomeone said in a previous post he is the only striker we have who looks capable of scoring 20 goals a season in the Championship bearing in mind the way Slade sets up his team.

If his wages were about half what they are supposed to be at the moment then we would be mad to sell him.

Given a run of games Macheda, Le Fondre , Doyle and potentially Mason can all get 20 over a season.

Jones is too expensive and has to go

He knows where the net is and scored a load on loan at Brum.
Also when he had a run after Xmas he scored a few in a short time.
He knows where the net is , no doubt.
Whether he can stay fit or put the effort in is another issue.
Didn't help when Ole played him out on the wing !

Both Lefondre and Doyle have excellent scoring records.
Macheda and Mason have never had long enough runs to prove it, but both have scored a reasonable number when played as strikers over short spells.

Can anyone tell me what's the point of competing this season? Anyone useful and they're out. Anyone crap they're guaranteed to stay! At this rate Marshall, Manga, Fabio, Gunnarsson, Turner and Ralls will be out next week and we'll be left with the dross! Mr Tan must hate us with a vengeance! :tandragon:

Jones club's top scorer who wins everything in the air and is our best defender at corners.

Le Fondre is a proven goal scorer who would score 20 goals if given the service. Doyle could get 10-15 goals but I cannot see Mason getting into double figures and Macheda would be lucky to get 5.

Without Jones or Le Fondre (and without having a new striker we would be one of the lowest scorers in the Division. I cannot see Doyle, Macheda, Ravell & Mason scoring more than 30-35 goals between them.

Gunnarsson Steve, our top midfielder! Where on earth have we got a (quality) replacement for him?

Jones is top scorer because when he plays no one else gets a chance.

We played our best stuff when Mason and Doyle played together because Jones wasn't there to slow everything down.
Doyle was the top scorer in the league at Chesterfield and once he settled in with us he started doing it for us too.

I like Gunnarsson but I wouldn't say he is our top midfielder, you talk about him as if he is irreplaceable  come on Phil you are truly scraping the barrel now, what constitutes Gunnarsson being this top midfielder that you say??
