Been twice and always used Thomas Cook, first time via Kula Lumpa and 2nd via Singapore.
Booked hotel transfers and hire cars so it was all arranged before we went.

I go to aussie and singapore regular on business, so cant really say about travel agents though as Plymuff bluebird says a good well known travel agency should sort you out. you need about 3 days in dubai and 4 or 5 days in singapore to see the main attractions without wasting time. leaves you about 10 or 11 days in aussie which is very tight being such a big country. depends if you are going to stay in one area in aussie. the country is big, very big!! and trouble is there are too many nice places to see in aussie far far apart from each other. dont forget this time of year it can get a bit chilly and miserable down south.

anyway, you will definately enjoy the holiday as they are all great places and for sure you will come back knackered!!

:D

I went to STA Travel to organise my trip and they were excellent. I travelled the Gold Coast going to Melbourne, Sydney, Byron Bay, Surfers Paradise and Brisbane. I didn't spend nearly as much money as I thought I would because I stayed in hostels. I was a bit wary of staying in a hostel but the hostels in Australia are excellent and very secure.

Fell in love with Australia and would love to live there at some stage of my life.
Hired a car in Perth and did a 500 mile trip staying in various towns including Albany and the Margaret River (surfers paradise)
Also been to Sydney and Melbourne and enjoyed both.
Have a fantastic time when you go and say hi to Oz for me.

Thanks for the advice all

I know you'd save money if you done it on your own but how hard would it be to do so?

I'd have to arrange all transport out there , flights cars busses etc paying that bit extra you can relax and it's all done for you

Obviously it's an expensive tour but trying for the best price possible and want to see as much as I can out there

What happens with the visa do you need one if you'll be there about 3weeks? Or do the travel company sort that out

You are just catching busses in between stops at the end of the day!!! Of course you need a visa and contact Australia House in London for details of that or ask wherever you buy the flight from as you'd only want a holiday visa.

It's not rocket science however if you really are worried then give me a travel agents fee of around £400 and I'll do everything for you. Pmsl even wipe your arse!!!

Just received this email to pass on to you

I know people who used these years ago for Ashes tours and they were a fraction of the cost of Gullivers etc. They tailor make your trip. I have been to Aussie twice and did everything through Airline Network. It is very easy so the guy need not worry. You can get buses from the Airports into Towns and the transport systems in places like Perth Melbourne and Sydney are excellent much better than Cardiff or Swansea. You can buy Flag hotel brochures or certainly could in my day just your travel agent. obviously the lower the standard the cheaper they are. Companies like Grey Line or AAT Kings did tours of the city and surrounds and usually pick you up at your hotel. My assessment was as follows

Wrong again! They stopped giving out waivers/visas on the plane several years ago... You complete a ESTA on line. What they give out on a plane is a customs card which every family has to complete .
