Former Cardiff City boss Malky Mackay and head of recruitment Iain Moody will face no action over allegations they shared racist and sexist texts.
Thursday 16th July 2015
The Football Association said it had carried out a "thorough" investigation into the language used in the messages.
It found "the communications were sent with a legitimate expectation of privacy".
But both men have been spoken to "about the inappropriateness of terms used in the messages".
The FA added in a statement: "To date, the FA's policy in cases such as this has been to not bring charges in respect of private communications sent with a legitimate expectation of privacy."
In the 11-month investigation 27 witnesses were spoken to by the FA, which said the process was delayed by "serious concerns" over "the circumstances in which particular evidence provided to the FA had been given".
"The nature of these concerns, which the FA treats with the utmost seriousness, has necessitated significant further inquiries by the FA and the liaison with external law enforcement agencies," it said.
Vincent Tan is believed to have spent over £1 million Persuing Malky Mackay.

I don't really see what action the FA could bring, they were private messages that were made public. There's no doubt they were sent and there is no doubt they were racist, homophobic and sexist, yet they were not directed at the person they were describing. Malky has suffered enough, through embarrassment to him and his family, he will always be looked at as having a questionable character. Wish him luck in future and the advice would be, control the arrogance and do not cross, Billionaire owners who are used to getting their own way

Private communications. Regardless of the phone used.
I've said it loads of times but that is the reason why they are free. The difference between saying something in private, and saying it in public.
That is human right. That is the difference between offending someone and not. Or are our thoughts now policed as well.
"OFF THE RECORD".

Time for all concerned to move on. Matter closed. Pity that it dragged on for so long.

I was expecting a four pager already by now.....
Tan did what he wanted to do and destroyed him....Although, Malky's Wigan experiance really helped that along.
Some of the most boring games I have ever had to endure, but we won. When we were losing they were still some of the most boring games and got a pasting.

No surprise considering FAs past dealings with such things!

time to move on and forget pair of them.

I think most people expected this sort of outcome. As soon as I heard it was texts between them I couldn't work out how it got to the FA.
Hopefully some club will be willing to take the chance and appoint Malky, I think he fully deserves another chance in football

The part of the statement that is interesting is
"However, the investigation has been lengthened considerably due to serious concerns about the circumstances in which particular evidence provided to The FA had been given and the reliability and completeness of that evidence."
Sums up the whole sorry saga

I see the FA say they are concerned by some of the evidence that was given to the police. Not being relevant. Wonder who gave the police this evidence, or non evidence as the case may be hmmm

Thoughts are about as offensive to people as private conversations.

No.
As they are private, no one hears them = no one is offended.

Carl and you in an update ages ago said he was funding it at his own expense ? Has it changed since then ? Also the fact is there were racist texts,so how is the club or tan wrong ?
