Unbelievable. If people remembered how to support a team and got behind slade I'm sure we'll do pretty well next season. Lets hope slade continues his run of improving almost every team he's managed.

Last night I sat pretty much right behind Slade but my main concern was the pillock (name unknown) who stood next to him all game just balling his head off at players.

I know some players need an ocassional bollocking, piece of advice, help with a situation they might not see for themselves bu this guy never stopped. He was constantly giving instructions and sometimes players were having to follow his instructions, even when it went against what they felt or knew what really needed to be done.

These are professional players and surely they must be able to and in fact need to make a few decisions for themselves.

I felt like telling the tw*t to shut shut myself. I bet the players hate this style of coaching (if you can call it that).

As much as I think Slade is an awful manager I don't think you can learn much from pre-season games.

I wasn't there (listened on Player) but from the stills I have seen it is Paul Trollope you are talking about. The Player commentary also said he was quite vocal all match.

You might be right but I thought Trollope was stood to one side and didn't get too involved when the game was actually in progress. From what I hear about Trollope he's not the shouting type.

I think I'm probably referring to someone else on the coaching staff.

If I can Google a pic of him I'll confirm his identity later.

Just out of interest of course.

Just found some images and it was Trollope which shocks me a bit.

A lot of fans put last year's late upturn down to him joining the coaching staff but that's not a style I think works long term.

I think players get used to constant shouting and balling and eventually older players take less notice and it can't be a confidence building approach for youngsters either.

For me the more considered man management techniques work best. Ocassional in play advice is a yes but constant shouting is a turn off.

And Arsenal once lost to Barnet in their preseason regular, if I remember correctly.

Preseason is for fitness.

I positively enjoyed visiting a ground I had not been to before. Decent run out for a lot of our players. Great chips!

I wouldn't think about it too much, first couple of friendly games he's probably just trying to drill some things into them. 26 players used in one game there guna need some organisation

I'm sure Derby are also close to sacking their new manager after losing their friendly to Grimsby as well.

Didn't we lose at FGR a couple of seasons ago and then win the league?
