Cardiff City expect Kagisho Dikgacoi to be fit for league opener
Dikgacoi impressed in his 45 minutes against Forest Green on Wednesday but Russell Slade had less good news on defender Turner
Russell Slade believes midfield enforcer Kagisho Dikgacoi is on course to be fit for Cardiff City's opening Championship match of the new season.
South African international Dikgacoi played 45 minutes for the Bluebirds in their 1-1 draw at Forest Green Rovers and manager Slade said: “We believe he will be fit and ready for the start of our league season.”
The former Crystal Palace man was outstanding in the first-half against Rovers in Gloucestershire. And although he is a big man and still looks heavy, Dikgacoi still has time before the first match against Fulhman on Saturday, August 8 to put that right.
“There is a lot more work ahead for him but he is making good progress,” Slade added.
“This was his first 45 minutes in a long time and he came through well. We hope he will be extremely close to being able to play in our first Championship fixture.”
Sammy Ameobi, Aron Gunnarsson, Scott Malone and Stuart O'Keefe were among the players missing from the team on Wednesday but all four are expected to be in the squad for Saturday's trip to Shrewsbury.

I'm looking forward to seeing him play and think he'll be a great asset but how long should it take for a professional footballer to lose a bit of weight?
I know he's struggled with injuries but he's had all summer to eat healthily, train hard and get down to his preferred size.
Surely he was only 7-10 pounds overweight. Wer'e not talking a couple of stone here!

the amount of weight surely has to be called into question. It could of well been if he still looks chunky that he had to lose > 14lbs this summer
