Cardiff City outcast Adam Le Fondre is set to wear a Bluebirds shirt again this weekend... but only for the reserves.
The striker, who is not expected to feature against Forest Green on Wednesday night, has been told to play against Carmarthen Town at the same time the bulk of the first-team squad take on Shrewsbury on Saturday afternoon.
Le Fondre is expected to leave the club before the start of the season and has been linked with Wolves, Ipswich and Bolton.
The 28-year-old was loaned to Wanderers in January after failing to settle in Cardiff during a spell that saw him score just three goals in 25 matches following his £2.5m move from Reading.
The striker regained his scoring touch for the Trotters, netting eight times in 17 outings, but he does not appear to be in Russell Slade’s plans for next season.
Le Fondre will be joined at Carmarthen by goalkeeper Joe Lewis, who is also expected to leave soon.
City have three fixtures in two days this weekend, giving Slade and his coaches the chance to assess every available player in his senior and under-21 squads.
After the matches against Shrewsbury and Carmarthen, Cardiff send a young squad to play Haverfordwest County at their Conygar Bridge Meadow ground.
Lewis, Le Fondre, Filip Kiss, Etien Velikonja and Rhys Healey are all also in line to be involved against Carmarthen
Slade could also include a few of his first team fringe players at Carmarthen, who are managed by former Bluebirds defender Mark Aizlewood.
Slade takes 25 players to Holland for the start of their pre-season tour on Sunday, while Kevin Nicholson, City’s development team coach, will be in charge of the squad going to West Wales later that day.

Indeed, He should be our number one striker.

Nothing to do with the fact that he wants to leave then?

Totally agree but I wonder if there was a mutual understanding that his time was up.
Let's be honest if Slade played to our strengths we already have a formidable front two in Le Fondre and Jones.

I wouldn't exactly call him hopeless but agree he didn't score the goals he was expected to & did miss several chances.
However, after being played out of position, he did come back. He worked hard & his movement & ability to get into positions was very good.
People - including myself - are giving Slade another chance & a clean sheet to start afresh so why not LeFondre?
A bit of man management by Slade & hopefully a change in tactics from the long ball down the channels & we could have a 20 goal a season player that we need. He's done it everywhere else so why not here?
There's talk of him wanting to leave & if he's adamant then fair enough but I'm sure he could be persuaded to stay if Slade has the ability.

Baffling he had plenty of games to prove why we bought him and what he got a tap in v Watford. Deflected strike v Ipswich and a header v Watford wasn't it?
I don't see what the obsession with is here, he doesn't really fit in and I think we have fitter version of his sort in Doyle and he managed to a get few goals.
I like Le Fondre and want him to do well here but I think reputation for him is the reason people rate him so much. Like people will sit here and talk about last season with the service but he outshined by a 6ft2/3 striker who's 30 which is embarrassing for some of the strikers we have.
Don't get me wrong KJ and the wages are steep but he provided more goals than anyone else.
The attitude he has on twitter is completely unprofessional, regardless of how he has been treated here but this nonsense about treatment, he scored over 10 goals for a few seasons and hasn't proved it here.. he has had chances like Guerra and has showed it so what's wrong with wanting to rid a striker like him.
