The Championship duo are both looking to strengthen their squads over the summer as they aim for a promotion push next season, and are understood to have expressed their interest in the former Manchester City starlet.

The 21-year-old is keen to return to England’s second tier after the Latics suffered relegation to League One last term, but he is still recovering from an injury suffered in training back in February which could delay any transfer.

The Wales international made 16 appearances in all competitions in the 2014/15 campaign before the season-ending incident.

Big season for him turns 22 in September really needs to be starting 30+ games, hopefully he can stay injury free or could end up going the same way as jack collision
