Bluebirds keen to make a profit on midfield ace after forking out £750,000 for him last summer
Leeds United will have to pay around £1m for Cardiff City midfield player Tom Adeyemi if they want to make his season-long loan move a full transfer next summer.
Norwich-born Adeyemi, 23, will sign for Cardiff’s Championship rivals Leeds today after a clause is agreed on a minimum price Leeds would pay if they want him to stay after the end of 2014-15.
City paid £750,000 for Adeyemi when he made the move from Birmingham to South Wales when Ole Gunnar Solskjaer was in charge a year ago and the Bluebirds are determined to make a profit if the loan becomes a permanent deal.
Leeds head coach Uwe Rosler is keen to sign Adeyemi on a three-year deal in 12 months’ time and although Cardiff have not committed to that, they have made it clear it would take a feel of £1m or more.
Adeyemi, who played under Rosler while on loan at Brentford, is in Yorkshire having his medical today
Leeds have been keen on signing a holding midfielder and their search intensified after Luke Murphy suffered a knee injury a fortnight ago.
Leeds have now signed two players from Cardiff during this close season with Adeyemi following young goalkeeper Charlie Horton to Elland Road.
Defender Sol Bamba plus strikers Chris Wood and Lee Erwin are Rosler’s three other new players.

Annis, Leeds are in a win win situation. If Adeyemi does a good job for them then they will buy him but if he's crap or gets injured then they will sling him back to us. I wonder what we will do if he has a stormer of a season with Leeds and they want to buy him, will we sell him or keep him hoping that he continues with the form of that season? Interesting hmmmmmmm

Steve, in my opinion terrible business by our club, will we ever learn?
A quality player and we've virtually given him away

we will never learn Annis. If Leeds do buy him for £1m then I hope we slap a sell on clause in the deal because I honestly feel that Adeyemi will be a great player in a couple of years as long as he keeps injury free and at least then we could get more money that way.

Another huge mistake by The City. There again with Slade and Young in charge stupid acts and decisions such as this come as no big surprise.

I'm not wholly in favour of this sale but I'm not sure I'd class it as poor business unless I've misunderstood the figures.
So we bought him for £750K, he didn't play for a variety or reasons, including injuries. He hasn't ever been a regular starter (or even sub) so we loan him out for a season where he's off our wage bill and then get a £1m fee. That isn't so bad on the face of it is it or have I got something wrong ?
Personally I would have given him the first half of the season to see if he would offer something but if Slade has made his mind up then maybe they'd rather make the decision now.

what do you base this premise that he's a 'quality player' on? put it this way we wouldn't get £1m for him this summer.........

Annis.
The wage bill is far too big.
What should the club do.
Stick with the 40 man squad and make another huge loss and not make a single signing .
Players have got to go and if they are ones which aren't contributing like Adeyemi and Guerra and are on big wages then it makes sense.
We can't have it all ways.

C'mon guys he came with the promise of being " better than Jordan Mutch " and I honestly think he will have better times ahead, yes he's had some bad luck but he's done nothing for us and if you base things on the last year he's not worth a million quid nor would any club pay that

Have we offloaded anyone without it being bad business or something similar by club? Because it seems cannot please any of these fans whatever club does!!

Leeds United look to have captured the loan signing of Cardiff City's Tom Adeyemi but now it is now being reported they also have the option of making that deal permanent next summer for just £1m.
Manchester United legend and former Cardiff City manager Ole Gunnar Solskjaer described the player like this when he signed him:
He's going to be a top, top player for us. He's a box to box midfielder and can attack and defend. He wins the ball really well for us, switches the play and scores goals as well.
A £1m fee would turn a profit on the £750,000 the Bluebirds spent on him last summer but Uwe Rosler knows the player well from their time together at Brentford, and hopes that this season he'll prove he's worth the investment next summer.
TOM ADEYEMI
Last season was a fractured one for the midfielder and ended with him getting only 16 minutes on the pitch in Cardiff City's final 15 league games.
However looking back at his stats while at Birmingham City, seems to give a much better indication of his capabilities and what he might bring to Leeds United under Uwe Rosler.

I find it funny the people on here will look for anything to slag Slade off. With Ameobi, first it was 'he won't come here to play for Slade' then when he signed it was 'Slade didn't sign him, Malman did' but not now we've got rid of a player then it was Slade who got rid not Malman or anyone else. If your going to be negative at least be consistent.

Steve, he (this Malman) must be yet another Ole signing we never got to see...or maybe he craftily sneaked on to the bus after the accident just to make a claim off Vincent Tan whilst he was giving 'free' money away to those he no longer wanted around?!?! It's happened before now! LOL
