Is our current squad good enough?

I will expect the majority of these to play a part at some stage this coming season.

Goalkeepers - Marshall and Moore

Left Backs - Malone, Ralls, John and Fabio

Right Backs - Peltier, Connolly and Fabio

Centre Backs - Manga, Turner, Connolly and Morrison

Centre Midfielders - Whittingham, Gunnarsson, Ralls, O'Keefe, Dikagcoi plus new signing

Wingers - Kennedy, Pilkington, Noone, Harris and Ralls

Strikers - Jones, Le Fondre, Doyle, Mason, Macheda and Revell

Any others I have missed out? To be fair, there doesn't seem to be too many weaknesses. Hopefully, we will start this season a lot fitter than last season, get off to a good start and build some early momentum.

I think there is plenty of quality in there and with Slades man management skills we shall do well.

To challenge for promotion we need 2 quality full backs who can defend and attack, a quality centre midfield player who can dictate a game, another creative, pacey winger, a creative number 10 and a 25 goal striker.

We had very few of them when we won the title.

Hugely short on quality and one of our top players thrown out today. Difficult season ahead again

A mid table team at best and if we play like we did for the last 6 months of the season then we could be hovering just above the relegation zone. There is still a lack of quality in certain positions and I cannot see where the goals will come from particularly if Jones is offloaded as expected.

I think its good enough for midtable but it depends what effect Slade has, the manager has a big effect on the team.

I think we still need to shift out quite a few more and replace with better.
RB is weak (assumning Fabio plays LB)
upfront I don't see anything that I think will get us near the play/offs but then I don't see much service to them either the way Slade likes to set up

With the right tactics and everyone played to their strengths we definetly have the quality. It depends if slade has the tactical knowledge and the man managment skills to get them there

No real improvement on last year and we were bang in mid table. Think we will finish mid table again.

On paper it looks good enough to stay up.

Interesting to see peoples opinions on this. I personally think we need a new left back, centre midfielder and striker. We still lack leaders and characters, plus players who you can consistently rely on to give their all and perform for the entire 46 game season. We need a squad of honest, dependable players who can pinch those scrappy 1-0 wins on a cold, Tuesday winter night on a rubbish pitch, because we are more organised, with more leaders on the pitch and we want it more than the opposition.

I don't really see a glaring weakness within our squad player ability wise. But I still see a glaring weakness with a lack of leadership and having a goalkeeper as our captain. We will surely replace Adeyemi with a midfield general, a Shaun Derry type who can lead by example, control the game with his ability and organisational skills and marshall the team to promotion. If we can bring in someone with these qualities, I think we have a very good chance of challenging this season.

7 wins, 7 draws and 4 defeats from February onwards last season without Le Fondre, Connolly and Jones. These 3 returning plus Ameobi and a new centre midfielder should give us a squad capable of challenging. We will be a lot fitter starting this season, so hopefully we will get off to a good start, build some early momentum and put ourselves in a great position to challenge.

No - lacking 3/4 quality players. Mid table at best.

Not to challenge for automatic but i think we're in a group of 8 or 9 teams with a real chance of the last two playoff spots.

im amazed so many ppl think our squad is so poor when everyone was expecting us to be champions this time last yr,we've lost one a few of oles shit signings and are trying to get rid of our under performing players like lefondre and adeyemi hopefully we will get one or two more in also and the squad is then more balanced and still very strong compared to oles unbalanced squad we are far better off now than we was last yr yet nobody thinks we are gna do anything this yr,its obsurd
