Cardiff City staff interviewed as Football Association investigation into Malky Mackay textgate saga rumbles on

Saturday 11 JULY 2015

Bluebirds staff were summoned by FA investigators trying to establish the culture of the club while the Scottish manager was in charge

Cardiff City staff have given interviews to Football Association officials trying to ascertain what culture existed at the club under former manager Malky Mackay.

With the inquiry into the Mackay textgate controversy still rumbling on, Bluebirds staff have been quizzed about the type of environment that existed while the Scot was in charge.

The FA has already been investigating the Mackay affair for months after it was alleged last August that a series of racist, sexist and homophobic texts were sent by Mackay during his time in charge of Cardiff to his then head of recruitment in the Welsh capital, Iain Moody.

The texts were reportedly first discovered by a team looking into the transfer dealings of Mackay – sacked by the Bluebirds in December 2013 – and Moody on behalf of Bluebirds’ owner Vincent Tan.

Back in March this year it was revealed new evidence had emerged that would see the FA’s findings delayed.

No decision has been revealed by football’s governing body and date has been set to bring the investigation to a conclusion.

WalesOnline has been told the FA did not just want to rely on the original texts, but wanted to look at the bigger picture at the club at the time.

The Cardiff City hierarchy co-operated fully and the Bluebirds had no say over which of their present staff were interviewed.

The individuals, who have not been named, were contacted directly by the FA and interviews held over the first few months of this year in London and Wales.

We understand no Cardiff City players past or present have been spoken to so far as part of the new aspect of the enquiry, with the focus on members of staff during Mackay’s time as Bluebirds boss.

The Scot led Cardiff to promotion to the Premier League in April 2013, but during the club’s season in the top-flight his relationship with owner Tan soured and Mackay was eventually shown the door to be replaced by Ole Gunnar Solskjaer.

Since the launch of the investigation, Mackay has had a spell in charge of Wigan Athletic.

He was sacked by the Latics in April ahead of the club’s relegation to League One and is currently without a club.

Because after about 18 months Tan is still unable to come up with any evidence or hard facts regarding fraud, which is what Tan has been looking for.

I think it's pretty obvious that he is guilty, it's just a matter of how serious the FA deem his offences to be!

Totally agree Annis, we can't change the past so lets focus on the future. I am looking forward to next season and I would rather not have some cloud or distraction hanging over us.

A private joke between two friends... I've told a few naughty jokes doesn't make me a racist or homophobe, it's all in context and it's not like he said it publicly or assaulted someone. That's the way I see it...

If he is found guilty of racism over a couple of texts then we are all guilty of it.

If you don't see what he has done as racism and are happy with that kind of behaviour, then yes, you are also a Racist, don't make the mistake of thinking we are all like you or Malky. It doesn't make you a bad person, just ignorant.

Ignorant? Yet I have lived and work amongst these people for a few years and know exactly how far to go because it becomes offensive. I'm not ignorant or racist at all...just tolerant on the subject which the likes of you should show a bit of tolerance.

Do you really believe it is all about 'just a few texts' yet Malky dropped a £7 million pound claim against the club?

Of course, hence why I think we should all reserve judgement until the full details are revealed!!

Race law seems complicated but it can be explained in its simplest terms as "causing offence"

Due to freedom of speech anyone can have a racist conversation provided that it is not in "earshot" of someone it would likely cause offense or distress to. That's why Imam's in Mosques can openly call for the death of all non-believers as their words wouldn't cause offence to other Muslims (so much for so called 'moderate Muslims'). This is also the reason why Nick Griffin of BNP fame was found not guilt of racial incitement a few years back.

It is also the reason why hardly any crimes by black or Asians against White people are recorded as "racist". Its because nearly all black or Asians who are subject to attacks by whites will report them as such but for some reason whites do-not follow the same route, probably because black and Asians are encouraged to do so whilst whites are not.

I get really annoyed when the term "Ignorant" is used as whites are only ignorant of their very own laws which seem to protect everyone but the indigenous population.

As for Malky his conversation was a private one with a person who was not caused offence or distress so no criminal offence was committed. Of course his employers (Cardiff City) and overall ruling body (the FA) will have codes of conduct and MM may well be in breach of them, hence the investigations.
