Derby County forward Johnny Russell is reportedly a transfer target for Cardiff City according to the Derby Telegraph.
Russell is wanted by Cardiff City
The Bluebirds enquired about the availability of the Scottish international last month but were informed by the Rams that he was not for sale.
However, after Derby swooped to land former England U21 winger Thomas Ince from Hull, it appears that they may have changed their stance on Russell.
As the Derby Telegraph understands the 25-year-old could now be made available and the Rams will part company with the player if an offer in the region of £1 million is received.
Russell, who originally joined Derby as a striker from Dundee United in a deal worth £750,000, has proven to been very versatile playing in wider positions in addition to through the middle.
That could be a factor in Slade’s pursuit of the player with the club already having Joe Mason, Kenwyne Jones, Eoin Doyle, Frederico Macheda, Alex Revell and Adam Le Fondre all signed as strikers, it could well be that he opts to use Russell as a winger.

Not enough

Not enough - peanuts.
No way are Derby gong to give Russell away for 800K. Yes always go in with a low bid and work up but that figure is a bit of an insult if true.
If you want a particular player that badly then surely you go in with a realistic bid. It's the equivalent of receiving a 1-2m for Marshall when he is clearly worth a lot more.

Never really watched him play tbh. What type of player is he? Is he better than we already have?

He's an attacking wideman and has an eye for goal, I'd say a definite step up than what we have.

Cardiff City transfer news: Derby County fans say £1m is nowhere near enough for 'passionate' Johnny Russell -
Cardiff City top target Johnny Russell is a real fans' favourite at Derby County.
As the Bluebirds try to lure the Scottish international from the Ipro Stadium for £1m, Rams fans have taken to their keyboards to insist that's not enough.
With new boss Paul Clement bringing in big names like Tom Ince, Andreas Weimann and Darren Bent already this summer, it looks as though Russell might be surplus to requirements, allowing him to join Sammy Ameobi as the latest big-name player to arrive at Cardiff.
But on the day the megabuck East Midlands outfit, who missed out on the play-offs on the Championship season's final day, landed a £250,000 transfer kitty by winning the SkyBet Transfer Fund draw, fans were queuing up to have their say about the Bluebirds' bid for Russell on the Derby Telegraph's website.
Oliver99 wrote: "I remember at the Millwall away game last season - after a good spell of play Johnny turned to the Derby fans and roared "come on!".
"The Derby fans responded, the noise level doubled, and we really got behind the team. That kind of passion's vital.
"Yes he has his price and may not be in the starting 11, but I'd be very sad to see him go."
And LittleoverRam said: "Every player has their price, regardless of how popular they are, but £1m is nowhere near enough for Super Johnny Russell."
However, postmanx thinks that Russell doesn't score enough goals.
"Reckon he does not score enough goals to play striker however his all action & positive influence is worth as much in a team.
"Think JR might want to be regular starter though , so might wish to move on but the fee needs to be higher."

If we can get him for £800k it's good business, I suspect that we will get him for around £1.3 million which is about right. Just remember all those who calling our offer peanuts, that we are struggling to even get fees for proven goal scorers like Le Fondre!

This could turn out just like what happened when we sold Ross McCormack to Leeds for £350,000, a few years ago. The Derby fans will be fuming, just like we were with the McCormack fee deal, if we sign Russell for around £1m. That would be an absolute steal and probably the bargain of the summer. He will turn out to be a brilliant player for us, if of course he does sign on the dotted line. Things would definitely be looking on the up for us next season if this deal is concluded. However, I just cannot see other clubs just standing around doing nothing, while we swoop in and quickly do the deal, especially if Russell is available for that cheap. If we do have a bid accepted then I can see numerous other clubs coming in as well and the deal going on quite a while, as Russell talks to all of the clubs and he mulls over his next move. This deal could be either tied up in a few days or end up going on for a week or two.

I'm pretty sure he wanted a lot more information than that

Cannot see Derby letting him go for anything less than 800k! Would be a steal at that price
