A forum for all things Cardiff City
Fri Jul 10, 2015 2:29 pm
Over the years, our derby with Bristol City has become extremely diluted. Now they are back in the championship and it doesn’t look like we will playing the Jacks anytime soon, I think it's time we start to get our hatred back towards them.
So here is a thread on their forum discussing our new kit to get you all fired up!!
http://www.otib.co.uk/index.php?/topic/ ... n-to-blue/Their fans deserve no credit. Happily bent over backwards when it was going well, mouthed off on forums but happily accepted red scarves on match day. And of course threatened to boycott an away game they sold out. All of a sudden they started losing and threw their 1970's toys out their prams. Absolutely agree with this 100%. It annoyed me how the media portrayed their return to blue as a victory for the supporters. Those supporters stayed away from a third round cup game v Colchester "in protest", but the stadium was sold out every week in the Premier League. Funny that. The back to blue campaign only gathered momentum when they were relegated and heading the wrong way in the Championship. Again a remarkable coincidence. That day they handed out red scarves, the vast majority slung them round their necks. Also loving the latest advertising campaigns of #OurCityIsBlue and 'Forever Bluebirds'. The meaning of forever must be different in the valleys.

I honestly think we need to get the atmoshpere back for this game as it has become like a normal game.

In the 70s/80's & 90's it was a superb Derby game

Grow up those days are over your supposed to be grown men not spotty teenagers

Fair play to the Worzels, they certainly prepare for games. When we played them at the start of the promotion season, at Ashton Gate, they had loads of songs for our new red kit. '4-2, to the proper Reds', 'what's it like to sell your soul?', and 'you're not Cardiff any more'. Even though we played in blue on the day. They stuffed us 4-2, but got relegated, while we went up as champions.
There's an uncomfortable truth about some of the things they say, though.
Always considered them to be our main rivals. Perhaps it's a generational thing.

To be fair they're spot on about the kit campaign.

Calm down buddy, who has mentioned fighting/trouble? All I was suggesting was that these games used to have a bit of bite in them and a tidy bit of rivalry. Now it seems that's it's just another game.

Atmosphere use to be electric and it use to be high priority on my favourite games to look forward to , for me Bristol City were our rivals.

Remember playing them xmas time 2001 first derby game i'd been to (bristol or Swansea) special atmosphere until they went 3-1 up. Got quite lively that day

Don't you just love Bristol City not .wonder if they have smashed any pubs up lately
Fri Jul 10, 2015 6:14 pm
Get the stone island out from the wardrobe in the back bedroom!
We're going to Bristol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Get into them - (you know the rest)

Well their fans are right aren't they re the red scarf game. Out of the 3 of us who had season tickets together, 2 of us didn't take one, and the other one had a young kid, so took one for him, fair enough. Our amazement as we walked into the stadium to see at least 2/3rds wearing them will live with me forever.

Their right, the way our fan Base reacted was a f*cking disgrace. I said it from the Starr we are football fans not diplomats we should have protested/rioted/boycotted to protect our club. anyone who took a red scarf that day is an embarrassment.

Jeez what have you got, one foot in the grave?
All people are saying is let's build up an atmosphere against a team that historically our main 'enemies'\rivals.
Let's get a buzz going & try to get an atmosphere & enjoyment to our recent dull times.
Looking forward to the away game already!
Hey, but pensioner, I'm not into fighting - just enjoyment.

I didn't go to that game. I'm so glad I didn't -disgusting and I don't know how fights never broke out that night.
Those who appeased with the red that night are a shame on our history.
Many of those are not here anymore anyway. More acquaintances than fans

can't disagree with any of that, rebrand is the worst chapter in our history but now it is closed, we move on. Could of happened to any club, just unfortunate it happened to us.

look forward to this game!

I work in Bristol, mainly with Gasheads, but City are looking forward to the derby. Going to be some good banter this season. Hopefully another 6-0!!!

Hated their fans since the 80s because of the sick Aberfan chants.
One of my all time favourite ccfc games was the home semi final play off when Thorne scored the only goal.

It is a cross we have to bear. A reason many will never forgive Tan or come back to the City.
The banter by our rivals on this subject may be our Achilles heal.
Truth is club is now back in Blue and kit has been a sell out.
The Blue campaign never gave up
So however much the Brighton Shame and the red or bust fans and the always Blue fans argued.
We were all played by Tans decisions.
Finally the fans decisions got through to Tan and we are back in Blue.
