Couldn't agree more with this.
We cannot go into the season with Whitts and Gunners in a four man midfield again please!

It staggers me to understand that there are still a number of people on here who are still content to have Whittingham and Gunnerson playing in the same midfield

Postscript to my original posting, amongst the fans of the Whittingham Gunnerson axis in midfield,is our beloved manager, which is quite alarming

Sweep the old guard away and get a midfield general in to pep up our weakest area.

A good midfield general will cost us a fortune, so we will either be paying huge wages for someone who's been there and done it (Joey Barton), or gambling on a good up and coming youngster (George Thorne).
It's a gamble and I think the safe bet would be playing 4-5-1 and shifting Ralls into the middle. Saying that, we controlled the game away to Forest with O'Keefe and Gunnarsson in the middle. It's Whittingham who's the problem why we get overrun and Gunnarsson gets loads of unwarranted stick. You don't see Gunnarsson struggling for Iceland do you?

Agreed. Unless it's a 5 man midfield, Whitts and Gunnarson should not be in the starting 11.

We haven't had a proper midfield general since Willie Boland!!!
That's why I always through a Jamie O'Hara or that one from QPR would do a good job for City
