Javi Guerra's Cardiff City nightmare could continue as Malaga prepare to look at other attacking options

Thursday 9th July 2015

Spanish club Malaga could look elsewhere if they can't thrash out a deal to sign Guerra from the Bluebirds

A deal to bring Javi Guerra’s Cardiff City nightmare to an end is in the balance with Malaga prepared to look at other targets if they can’t thrash out an agreement with the Bluebirds.

Striker Guerra was signed with high hopes before the start of last season, owner Vincent Tan claiming personal involvement in a pre-contract agreement to bring him over from La Liga where he had impressed for Real Valladolid.

But the Spanish frontman struggled to make any notable impact in South Wales and was sent out on loan in the January transfer window after just three Championship substitute outings with Malaga snapping up the 33-year-old.

After five goals in 13 appearances in his homeland, both Guerra and Malaga have made clear their intentions of making the move permanent but reports have long stated the forward would have to reach an agreement about ending his Cardiff contract and reduce his wages to force through a return.

Now reports in Spain maintain Malaga still want Guerra if he can negotiate an end to the three-year deal he penned last summer and take a salary cut, but also warn they are ready to look at other options.

Guerra has begun pre-season training with the rest of Russell Slade’s squad but there is no suggestion he forms part of the Bluebirds boss’ plans going forward for the new season.

Cardiff also want to ship out Adam le Fondre while Slade had previously been frustrated in attempts to bring in a new striker with the large group of frontmen on his books, though did boost his attacking options this week with the loan capture of Newcastle star Sammy Ameobi.

Why does he deserve better? Sounds to me, as if it's in Guerras hands, he obviously is not wanted at Cardiff and is wanted by Malaga, it sounds however, that Guerra is not willing to compromise on his contract and reducing his wages to get his move. So how does he deserve better?

Seems he wants the penny and the bun.I'm sure he wouldn't starve on a reduced wage which most of us could only dream of.

We gave him the contract, the whole situation is down to us.

He is a proven scorer, who was never given a chance by Slade.

Annis that is Young's fault, our unprofessional, amateur, inexperienced assistant manager

"But the Spanish frontman struggled to make any notable impact in South Wales"

How could he possibly make a notable impact when tweedle dum and tweedle dee have never given him a proper chance. I would be over the moon if they gave him a chance this year but while Scott Young is here he will never have a chance, a big big shame really as I feel he would score for fun.
To the post that don't think he deserves better, it was our clubs doing to what the situation is today so hardly his fault, we gave him the contract.
Give Guerra a chance Slade. :ayatollah: :ayatollah: :ayatollah:

:ayatollah: :ayatollah: that's the best solution to the problem, play him and the club gets it's monies worth! :bluebird:

Sad that we didn't get to see his true worth to the team! :(

Don't forget OGS, who bought him, hardly gave him a minute of playing time either

I hope the move falls through because based on the limited time I've seen him play he looks better than anything else we have upfront by a country mile :ayatollah: At the very least he deserves a couple of starts.

I can't imagine why any manager would leave the player out just for the sake of it, it doesn't make any sense at all. If the player is doing anything in training then surely he gets his foot in the door. Now, for what ever reason, Ole didn't fancy him at all, then Young started with him and hooked him off and Slade it seems hasn't seen anything in training to give him a start. Tan, had a big say in signing him, so according to you Annis, being the dictator he is, then everything possible would be done to make Guerra a success and save Tans face. You cant have it both ways. It seems to be that Guerra made a mistake in coming here and is not showing the correct commitment in training to earn him a place in the team. Slade or any other manager will not give the chance if hes not showing it in training, why should they do that? just because of players reputation. Jones did that with Fowler and look where that got us.

Not just for the sake of it, orders from above to get rid of some of the players on high wages asap.

Of course, Guerra could make the first move himself and ask to be considered by the club, and start showing us some of the ability he is supposed to have. He needs to prove he is worth what he is being paid if he wants to move elsewhere, or prove to the club that he is worth persevering with. If the club can't offload him and he wants to play, then he needs to show it in training. He needs to show some cojones! :sladein:

Young can only advise, Slade makes his own choices. He's said that certain players attitudes wernt right and although Guerra has made the right noises in the media who really knows how he's conducted himself?

Spot on  I don't know why some of our supporters have taken this stance with Guerra, that he is hard done by! 3 managers have not seen enough from him, yet some supporters some how believe he deserves a chance  Now, some are saying that Slade wont play him, because we want to cash in and reduce the wage bill  It makes no sense at all, if he was showing anything, then the club :happy1: would undoubtedly benefit from his goals which would supersede any need to reduce wage bills. Le Fondre, is a a case in point, how many opportunities has he had with us? and he still can't hit a barn door with us, but up North with Bolton, he's consistent. Why our supporters are hell bent on blaming the manager or the owner for the fact that certain players just don't fit in, is beyond me  Pretty childish really

well he's now got a choice. the situation here is clear, slade doesn't want him for whatever reason. now he can compromise his wages to secure a move back to spain or sit on his contract here.

if he sits on his contract here i don't feel sorry for him at all. after all this is professional football and these things happen, whereby a manager is sacked shortly after signing a player and the new one doesnt want him.

its up to him to find a club willing to pay his extortionate salary.
