Ameobi - things have changed

Tue Jul 07, 2015 10:18 pm

To stay strong and build success on the back of a solid defence who concede very few goals, we have to play 451 as we did in our promotion season. I think Slade will do it this year. With that in mind, and our recent signing we need runners, a playmaker and strength in midfield. With that, there is no way we can play 2 wide midfielders. Pilkington will defo start. So, this is how I see it panning out unless new signings come in:

Marshall

Cannolly
Manga
Turner
Peltier

Gunner (capt)

Ameobi
Witts
Ralls
Pilkington

Mason

That's fine until you get to Mason. Can't see him playing up front on his own to be honest. It would have to be Kenwyne but I think we need to dump his wages so we need someone else for that role and someone for back-up.

I agree, Mason and Doyle have to play together or with someone as an AM. Otherwise it's Jones.

I would like to see a 3-5-2 or a 4-2-3-1. Those are the only two formations with the players we have that I can see delivering success.

Completely agree that we need to play a 4-5-1 but can not see slade diverting from his 4-4-2 to be honest.

Also I think kenwynne would be leathal in the loan striker role with good service from pills/ameobi out wide in a 4-5-1

Slade will play 442 until judgment day.

Mason is a luxury we can't afford. He doesn't score a lot of goals and physically poor.

Doyle must be well ahead of him in the pecking order. I am assuming Jones will be gone. If not then its Jones who is by training a lone striker

4231 or 451 should be the way forward, but i cant see slade shifting from 442

Mason as a lone striker?!?
He's the last person I'd put there. Not quick enough, not physical enough, etc.
