A lot wanted Pulis in. Now we maybe trying to emulate how he got them to the Prem.
My example would be playing Jones and possible Ameobi up top. Both well over 6ft
We then got Ben the hoof Turner to supply the bombardment. (Shawcross for them at the time)
Gunnerson being the new Delap with long throws.
We will have the 2 big strikers (Stoke had Sidibe, Ameobi or Fuller), Turner, Morrison, Manga, Connelly are all over 6ft2, Pilks must be around 6ft mark.
Whitts will have plenty to aim at from set pieces (Like Liam Lawrence).

I see this as a season where we are going to attempt to bombard the box with high balls just like Stoke used to. Hopefully Dikacoi can be a bully boy type in the middle of the park for us aswel.

Anyone think this could be what Slade is thinking of doing ? Just a suggestion or just to many similarities

That Adidas tracksuit does look though.

Make some good points but I think that would go against everything Trollope stands for as a coach,he likes playing gd football and ameobi is a skilful creative player who will help make that happen with the added advantage as u say of options from crosses also

So what sort of previous success did Pulis have before he got Stoke promoted and eventually established in the Premier League?

I always thought the Wigan Team, with Ellington and Jason Roberts up front were the best way of getting out, they gave every defence a torrid time and scored loads of goals, and bullied the opposing defenders. I think we need to toughen up as a team in general and be a lot more aggressive.

agreed, the team was passive last season when confronted by a more physical team.

We have to see but Slades teams played good football before with time and that is now what we need to do give Slade time and see what happens . I would take what Stoke has done any time

I am willing to give Slade the benefit of the doubt going into this season. It is his first full pre-season with the squad and let's see what he has them doing. I like the types of signings we've been linked with so far (except Murphy) so I'm hoping we are keen on getting a more passing game going. The majority of teams that have gone up to the Premier League over recent years have been effective passing units so it is the way to go.

Does it matter? It did pulis well in getting into premier! And opposite to that was malkies attritional game that got us promoted!
And Bournemouth free flowing game! So does it matter how we play as long as it gives us promotion?
