Sammy Ameobi has officially joined Cardiff City!
Everyone doubted that Slade could attract players to Cardiff City, but I think he has proved ten wrong with this signing. Ameobi is a premier league player who had a few options but was convinced to join us.
This has showed that we have pulling power and can attract quality. Ameobi will bring versatility, pace and creativity to a side that desperately needs all of those qualities.
I'm excited by this signing and hopefully a few more will follow!

Welcome Sammy Ameobi

I agree this signing is an excellent one by Slade, now Sammy has to show that he is a quality player to us in the upcoming season.
I do wonder what wages he is on with us anybody know ? I know Annis said we are paying 70% of his wages but I am not sure what he was being payed with Newcastle, if anyone knows it would be nice to be aware on what we are giving him each week. Seeing as he is from prem I imagine it's at least around the 25 k mark.

Let's keep things in perspective here.
From some of the posts it would appear that Slade has managed to persuade Messi to sign for us!
Ameobi is a player who has yet to establish himself in a team that has struggled badly in the Premier League over the past two seasons. His goalscoring record is nothing to write home about and most fans at Newcastle seem to believe that he is not Premier League standard.
What we have hopefully is a reasonably young guy with potential which he will be able to show in full whilst he is with us and I for one hope that he is an unqualified success during his time with us.
I'm concerned at the suggestion that he has to play when fully fit - that's not a great situation and may well have swung the decision in our favour rather than Slade's powers of persuasion. How will other palyers feel knowing that Ameobi will be playing if he's fully fit regardless of his form?
Still, Slade has already shown that he's quite happy to pick players every week irrespective of their form (Whittingham and Gunnarrson) and is used to bending over as far as those above him are concerned so he was probably quite happy to agree to pick the lad no matter what.

I'm sure we have the right to drop him if he's woefully out of form. Worst they can do is recall him if we don't play him, which won't be a bad thing if he's not performing.
Let's give him a chance.

See Ravel Morrison and Wilfried Zaha

Ameobi is not a PL player (in the sense of ability). He is just at a PL team. there is a difference.
He is 23 so no youngeter either, and if he was going to make it (especially at a poor PL team like Newcastle) then he would have done so by now.
Looks like a big fast player, but probably lacks football brain and technical ability. We shall see.
I think of previous young PL stars for a comparison - JET, Zaha, Etuhu, Morrison, for a comparison of how he could perform here.
Probably only signed for us as he is guaranteed a place in the team, regardless of form or ability. (If reports aretrue).
I wonder what other players think of that?

I agree that this signing is a good one,the interesting thing for me is who will he replace in the team,if fully fit of course

I've only seen him play a few times that I can remember. Once he was very good (against us) and I also remember him once for Newcastle looking as if he would rather be anywhere other than on the pitch playing football. I think he may have the ability to be good at this level as long as his attitude is right. I haven't seen enough of him to know if he will turn out to be a good signing, but I know he was a right pain when he played against us, and I would have preferred him to have been playing for us rather than against us on that particular day.
