A forum for all things Cardiff City

Whether we like it or not he is our manager and will be for a while depending on success. We need some consistency and most of our players will be used to slade. I wasn't his biggest fan at the beginning but haven't criticised him and the idea of slade as manager has grown on me and I think all the people who are extremely quick to criticise should wait and judge when he has actually had a proper chance. So many things could have been far worse last season, especially due to the way our season began! We could have been relegated again or finished in the lower half of the table. We could have been battling in the bottom 3 in April/may! Kenwyne went out on loan which saved us money but hindered our potential goal tally but we still finished where we did! It was the year that we returned to blue and we didn't have any winding up orders! Some clubs it takes years or it never may happen to regain premier league status. At least we are one of those clubs that it is more likely to happen at some point. We aren't a 'massive club' but we are a big club which can produce a large fan base so I think we have a lot going for us. But back to slade, I just think we need to pull together and support him and just see how things pan out if he doesn't succeed after that well at least we know we have backed him and it won't be the critics fault for putting him under too much pressure. But I feel that he will succeed with us, whether that is promotion, I don't know but with us in blue and a much lower budget when malky was here, it would make it ever so more special! Russell slade's barmy army!

He's getting a fresh start from me. I'm not 100% convinced he's the right man but he will have my support. He's got a full pre-season and transfer window to mould HIS squad together. I'll judge him after 10-15 league games, as long as I can see improvements in terms of style of football and commitment then I'll be a happy chap. Potentially if he can get all players up to scratch fitness wise, we have a very strong squad.

Unfortunately at this time most fans can only associate Slade with dull, boring, non-attractive football and that's why season ticket sales have plummeted.
The only way to get the fans back on side is to play a decent game of football & notch up the results. Is Slade capable of that? Only time will tell. It is a difficult start to the season and if we get off to a poor start then it could be a long hard slog. However if we get a few results and see an improvement in the performances it will go some way to build bridges with the fans.

Couldn't have put it better myself. Exactly my thoughts on the situation at the club.

This just about sums things up for me.
I'm pretty much anti-Slade as I've disliked most everything about him from his manner on the touch line to his 'tactics' & selections.
Nearly all the football I watched home & away was boring & completely un exciting, however, he's had loads of time here now, he's got & is getting his own players with a pre-season so I'm willing to get behind him & hope to be proved wrong.
For me, the start & the first month or so is crucial.

I'll give him a fresh chance but we need to get rid of more players and fast. I want him to not be as stubborn as he was last season, by giving other players a chance and not persisting with out of form players like Noone. I read that he does OK first year then improves the next.

Not impressed with him since he got here on a number of levels but he has got a clean slate from me for this season. I like the fact he is introducing new techniques. However I dont think that he will be here beyond October.
