Any builders or knowledge ?

I'm considering having a stone garage built for myself at the back of the garden. My question is do I need planning permission ? Is there a size limit that I can be ?. And also how much money am I looking at for a build if that's possible ?

sorry also, when i say a stone garage, i mean one made of stone and not a wooden one if that makes sense
