Forget about the first 6 weeks of the season - I think right now is a huge test for Slade.
If Slade fails to sign the players he wants and that Tan has approved then he could be history sooner rather than later.
Targeting Ameobi is ambitious, even if on loan. Fail that test and Slade moves onto another target, and another and another.
Eventually Tan will start asking why we can't attract players. With the move back to Blue and Tans limited involvement players are unlikely NOT to come due to the chairman.
Alternatively, Ameobi, or someone equally as impressive at this level, could sign and then he has to deliver very quickly.
Either way. A key time.

I'm with you on this IF the rumoured failings to attract certain players are found to be true.
I am yet to be convinced that we are missing out on players like Quinn and Wood but Tan will know if we are and his actions will tell us all we need to know.
