The woman's World Cup

Wed Jul 01, 2015 10:35 pm

First of all good luck to the England's women's team but the media comparing it to the men's '90 and '66 teams is absolute f*cking nonsense. Lol

Why do the commentators persist on calling every player by both names instead of calling them by their last name like in every other sport. Really irritates me. The standard has been gash... Probably got a lot to do with playing on astro turf I suppose. Also, I hope England lose. The pundits and commentators build them up more than they do with the fuking men's team . that female co commentator (don't know here name) goes right through me although she's slightly better than that kunt she's commentating with....really can't stand that fat prick

People like yourself are why women's sport is having such a hard time growing and being taken seriously.

Yeah, I was probably a bit harsh with my first post lol but honestly (granted I don't watch much women's football) but if they want the women's game to be taken more seriously, then they really have to do something about the standard of refereeing. Every game I've watched at this world cup, its been shocking. If a decision like that England penalty was given in the men's game, there would be hell to pay. And it wasn't a one off, its happened throughout this tournament. They should also bring in a rule where games can only be played on natural grass or hybrid grass. They've struggled to string any passes together on them astro turf pitches. It hasn't helped at all

Welsh rugby commentators use both names as well. It irritates me no end though I make allowances if the player is Davies or Williams.

Adam, I watched the game and that bloody commentator was just an arse as are all the media when it comes to England. I enjoyed the game to be honest and I actually wanted England's ladies to win, I thought they were robbed in the end. I'm gutted for them.

The media sympathy for the losing england team has been embarrassing. Especially bbc.
If anything its patronising and sexist.

Pathetic.

Its like talking about the luton family running off to syria
The reporter said they are the last people you would expect to do this.

My Aunty Gwyneth and Uncle Cledwyn are the last people i would expect to join isis, not a family of muslims from luton.

To be fair, I haven't watched any of this competition as I'm not keen on women's football. I've only seen clips on the news but some some of the goals have looked decent. Mind you, the women goalkeepers are shite.

I didn't realise that the commentator was Jonathan Pearce. Absolutely can't stand that guy!!
