'Premier league club set for major coup'

Wed Jul 01, 2015 7:12 pm

Stoke have had a £12 million bid for winger Xhedran Shaqiri accepted by Inter Milan. What a coup that would be! Fair play, they are climbing the prem ladder and I can see them competing for a Europa League spot under Hughes next year. :ayatollah:

I've always found that Mark Hughes downfall always comes when he is given decent money to spend?

Always seems to do well on a low budget, his teams seem to punch well above their weight and then the checkbook comes out and he stumbles...

Kompany and Zabaleta were two of his signings at Man City.

Never came to fruition for him at Man City though, which sort of backs up what I'm saying. A good manager no doubt about it, just seems to be better off on a small budget. On a separate note I always thought it was strange that he went to Man City, considering his links with United and his decent reputation at the time he might have been wiser to steer well clear of their local rivals and wait for the big job to come along. (I may be wrong but I think the Oil millions came along after he took the City job?)
