Sammy Ameobi is understood to have held talks with Cardiff City and Wolverhampton Wanderers about a potential loan move.

The Chronicle first reported Wolves’ interest in the 23-year-old on May 14, and in a season in which the player desperately needs first-team football, he is likely to boost his career in the Championship rather than scrapping for a place at Newcastle.

Ameobi is set to sign a new deal at Newcastle before being loaned out this summer.

He was in talks in Cardiff yesterday to tie up a potential deal with Russell Slade, with the Bluebirds keen to get him on board before the season’s big kick-off.

Ameobi made 27 appearances for United last season but has started just 21 games in the Premier League since Alan Pardew handed him his debut in 2011.

No brainier there, either join an ambitious club on the way up with a good manager who narrowly avoided the play offs or another club who are going to be in the bottom half of the table showing little ambition to progress and are offering pennies for wages.

It has to be Wolves. Would be very surprised if he picked Cardiff over Wolves.

Doing an Ince? Well probably see him at another few clubs before he makes his kind up!

If he turns out to be good, we'll miss out on him. On the other hand if he is going to be a flop he's as good as ours.

If a no brainer why is he stalling are wolves not that good a proposition? Or is it just city not a good proposition? As you and many more seem to think?

He is probably hoping for another club to come in for him with all the media attention. If it was a straight fight between us and Wolves I would put Wolves as favourite!
