Looks like Ameobi is set to sign for Wolves on loan. Doubt if Slade could even sign a cheque....looks like he won't need to!

Sammy Ameobi to sign with Newcastle ahead of Wolves loan

Wednesday 1st July 2015

by NUFC

Newcastle winger Sammy Ameobi is set to sign a new deal and then join Wolverhampton Wanderers on loan, sources have told ESPN FC.

Ameobi’s current deal expires at the end of this month and he would be free to join another club, but the 23-year-old is expected to sign a new deal and then be farmed out on loan.

A host of clubs, including Real Sociedad, Crystal Palace and West Brom have expressed an interest in Ameobi, but the former England Under-21 international has opted to stay at St James’ Park.

Newcastle are thought to be willing to send Ameobi out on loan next season so that he can play regular first-team football and the news has alerted several Championship clubs.

Cardiff were hoping to land Ameobi on loan, but it appears Wolves have stolen a march on their Championship rivals by making a move to bring the winger to Molineux.

Wolves boss Kenny Jackett sees Ameobi as an ideal replacement for Bakary Sako after the Mali international left the club upon the expiration of his contract.

Ameobi has scored four goals in 66 first team appearances, including a loan spell with Middlesbrough during 2013.

I have said plenty of times during the last few weeks that the transfer rumours posted on here are in the main a load of rubbish. It was never going to be easy to get players to move to a championship side in S Wales unless they were moving up from a club in the lower divisions. The only other way was to offer silly money to potential signings, and we know that is not going to happen any more. Also, I don't think we have the sort of manager who is going to inspire confidence to many players outside of the bottom two divisions. Until a player passes his medical and signs contracts, I will carry on taking these transfer rumours with a pinch of salt. :bluescarf:

The media has been saying all the so called potential signings.

We put out Ameobi and Quinn and both these players met and sat down with Slade, thats the nearest weve come to signing players.

I have said all along. We will end up with another complete and utter mish mash of players again. SLADE can't guarantee any new player we are pushing for the Prem when everyone in the game knows he won't get passed the first 5 games

Re: " Another No "

Wed Jul 01, 2015 7:19 am

If you were a player, and saw how we treated last summers signings (either dropped by Christmas, sold on, or loaned out), would YOU want to sign for us?

This is getting slightly concerning now. Ole's signings were good (in comparison to Slade's!), but if we couldn't afford them, we never should have taken them on. I've never seen a club treat players as we did last year, and I think that's playing a huge part in making people not want to play for us.

That and the poor quality of football Slade has served up so far.

Agree with you. I don't believe much of what I read in the papers either. There are also people who post things on here like the one who knew someone who knew someone else who guaranteed 110% that Joe Allen was coming to us on loan. Most of us knew that this was absolute rubbish, but I don't see the point in starting these sort of rumours when they are almost as unbelievable as thinking Santa Clause is a real person. Lost count of the number of players who were supposedly supposed to be coming here. Good for a bit of a laugh though I suppose, especially when we haven't got any matches to discuss. Roll on the start of the season. :ayatollah:

Annis although I don't think Slade is a true leader and perhaps hasn't got the gift of the gab, I would assume the main reason they choose other clubs were contractual reasons.

To be honest I take this as a good thing
I bet he's signing for wolves on bigger wages
I want people to sign for us because they want to . Not like in the past because we threw money at them to come

I'm sure there are many players that Slade has sat down with already, when these transfer rumours get into the media, they usually come from agents feeding the reporters, to bump up interest and therefore the price of the their clients.
Who's to say that Slade sat down with these players and found that they were not for him? Quin for instance, if it was a straight choice between us and Reading, why would any player choose Reading over us? They are in even more turmoil than we are! They may have offered more money or we may have lost interest having spoken with the player. If I was Ameobi and it was a choice between us and Wolves, then you would have to say that Wolves would offer the best option, as they have a manager who looks certain to stay in charge and have a more settled bunch of players there and a similar size club and Wolverhampton, although a shit hole itself, is in the center of the country, so easy to pop to London etc.

Re: " Another No "

It is just we have done no business that we care about every single deal going on.

I'm sure we get rejected for loads of deals every window that we don't hear about.

If he doesn't want to come here then more fool him. He'll be just another striker at wolves. If he came here he wouldve been the focal point of our team and the main man.

A friend of mine knows someone who's girlfriend goes to Howells school and has real pixies living at the bottom of their garden, and one of them confirmed that Santa is not real. Been told this comes from a reliable source, and I suspect it's true. Now it's been put on this forum, probably be in the Echo tomorrow.

By the time Tan realises why no players want to sign for us it'll be too late

We wont be competing while Slade is at the helm.

Fans are saying it , players are saying it , sky sports are saying it by not picking us for matches.

November will be too late to make amends.

Evidence that no one on the so called A list wants to join

Re: " Another No "

Wed Jul 01, 2015 10:11 am

I honestly believe that we have a good enough squad to get into the top 6 already. With a full pre-season with Slade and Trolloppe, the team will be much better than last year. I just hope we don't sell players before we have replacements for them. That's not to say that it couldn't be improved upon with a midfield enforcer and a good wide player. We may even have those players already if Dikgajoi gets fit, and Craig Noone rediscovers some form.

Kenwynne Jones may well be payed twice what he is worth, but just about every supporter of every other team in the championship would rather have him playing for them rather playing for us against their team.

Do you not think that there are supporters at other clubs up and down the country complaining about their lack of signings too? The transfer window opened TODAY, and there is another 2 months of it yet. We've had early signings the last couple of years, and what happened to them? And yet our most successful recent signing was Bruno and he didn't arrive until after the season started.

As usual, people, try to keep things in perspective and give the management team a chance. :sladein:

excellent post....the squad is already there...we massively underachieved last year...I honestly think with nobody expecting us to do anything..we could just be the surprise package next season (add 2 players with pace to this squad and we could be in business)

It would appear that Slade is just as Useless in the transfer market as he is in his technical area on match days

Re: " Another No "

So thats Quinn, Wood and Ameobi all opting to sign for other championship clubs. WIth Slade in charge all we can hope for is not to get relegated because all we will atteact are lower leauge players and average championship players at best.

Another season in mid table for us. No ambition from the club at all. Truly disheartening.

Put a decent run together before the winter window and they'll be flocking to us.

Is Ameobi such a big loss if he doesn't sign for us?

He only started 15 matches in a struggling Newcastle team last season and surely if he was that good, he would have umpteen Premier League teams chasing after him?

Whilst I agree with you we've not signed anybody in the top list yet. Players have gone to other clubs. If players believe we will get promotion surely they'd join and we would offer the right package?

I thought Slade's signings helped take us from 17th when Ole got sacked to finishing in 11th (with 12 million shaved off the wage bill)?
