Slade must have really impressed him during talks.

I imagine it went:

Quinn - "So Russell, who else are you planning to bring in for a big promtion push this year?"

Slade - "Well I dont know any players from the Prem or the championship and i'll be aiming for about 15th so if you play in leauge 1 or 2 and dont cost more than £1000 a week i'll make a bid".

Quinn - "and what tactics will you be using so I can use my best assests"
Slade - "Well, I like to get the ball up in the air a lot so you will be mainly a bystander for 80 mins then i'll bring you off."

Quinn - "Ok Russel thanks, dont ring me, I'll ring you".

Were obviously working on a tight budget again this year which means more mediocrity. We've not long recieved 60 million from finishing bottom of the prem plus paracute money and were being outgunned by Reading a club we should be on equal footing with. No ambition at this club any more to get back in the prem. Simply put the players we are going to be looking at with our budget means we are looking at a mid table finish again. :(

Why is it Slade negotiating with players? When we were signing players under Malky we were told Malky wasn't negotiating personally why would Slade be doing it?
