Better than what we got in my opinion

If you considered yourself even a half decent player would you look to Russell Slade to enhance your career?

Quinn chose Reading even after sitting down with Slade .

That's a worry Annis.
Though hardly a great surprise.

David, I am starting to worry if Slade is capable of bringing quality players to us? ?

Agree. Quinn is a decent player with Premiership experience. Slade possibly enticed him with League 1 football !

So we are turning rumours of potential signings into fact and then berating our manager for not being able to sign them.
Very clever rumour propaganda for those with an agenda.

He must already be well on the way to his "B" list of targets.
Might persuade a few from list "W" to sign if he's lucky.
Useless.

The "fact" is that Slade has spoken to Quinn and undoubtedly tried to sell him his vision for the club.
If indeed Quinn chooses a distinctly average Reading over us then there must be a chance that we are only going to end up with players that nobody else is interested in.

My mistake. I must have missed the pictures of the meeting or the interviews where it was mentioned.

Wayne I want Slade to be successful for the good of Cardiff City and also as a person I have no gripe with Slade, nothing at all personal against him. I just have no belief in him.

Last thread regarding Quinn, most didnt want him here and he was generally regarded as vile!
One even wrote that he wont be buying a ST if Quinn comes.
Now he doesnt come and club is in turmoil!
I'm not sure if players read this message board. But Journos and other fans do.
A quick check on what fans are saying may resonate with me if I was considering a move hundreds of miles from home.
A call to a few ex players would also be on the cards. Players that might never even have met slade.
There could be a number of other factors, and not just Slades inept persona involved here.

So no other players have turned down a club?

just got to laugh at the panic starting on here over it happening to us!!:laughing6:
How long to start season?

Maybe Quinn chose Reading because we are choosing to actually look after our club financially for once and we're not willing to pay the obscene wages our previous manager paid?

Can be numerous reasons but our lot decide its because of Slade??

It could be that Reading are virtually guaranteing him a start whereas we told him he'd have to fight for his place along with all out other midfield players, none of who i'd say he's much better than

All speculation. Who knows what terms were offered? Reading could have offered him certain contractual favours such as always in the match day squad when fit and a more handsome pay packet. I would rather our club hold to its transfer and expenditure policy than burst the bank for what is quite frankly, a distinctly average player, and drive the wage bill right up.
No offence but you cant have it all. Some of you cry foul at the big wage packets of Cornelius and the money wasted. Others of you go on continuously about the mountain of debt. Do you want to know how that happens? Its because of idiotic management within the club all around leading to poor negotiations and desperation.
Maybe Quinn went into the meeting with Slade and said 'Reading have offered me £20k per week. I'll join if you better it' and maybe Slade told him that just simply wasn't going to happen. Thats a possible scenario but again, its speculation. None of us know what occurred behind closed doors. I would rather a manager that sticks to his guns on what is deemed 'value for money' than one that just goes throwing money around like it grows on trees. Wake up for crying out loud. Our club needs to stabilise both on and off the pitch. It is currently not even functioning as a business alone and is being drip fed financially to survive.
