Queens Park Rangers were relegated because half the players were only there for the money and Harry Redknapp is a "very bad manager", says Rs outcast Adel Taarabt in an extraordinary attack.

The Moroccan winger has revealed that he began to hate football because of the atmosphere at Loftus Road - but he still maintains that he loved playing in the blue and white hoops of the club.

But despite his affection for Rangers, he believes the club could soon be in freefall.

QPR officials have acknowledged that they have bought poorly in the transfer windows in recent years and Taarabt says that some of the signings only joined the club to pick up their big-bucks wages.

In a stunning attack on his former club, he lamented the actions of those players.

Taarabt insists that he could see the relegation from the Premier League coming, before being reduced to a mere reserve team substitute under the stewardship of Harry Redknapp.

He has revealed that Redknapp agreed with his opinion before the start of last campaign that the team were good, but the attitude was wrong.

Taarabt said: “When I came for pre-season I told Harry Redknapp to his face, ‘This team is going down’. He said the same thing as me... that he agreed with me."

And on his fiery relationship with his former boss, he claims that Redknapp does not have the same passion for the game that is portrayed sometimes.

Taarabt says that the biggest mistake that QPR made was sacking Mark Hughes and the club never recovered from his departure.

He said: "I don’t think he has the passion for the game like people think.

“Harry is not a bad person but he is a very bad coach and, for me, a very bad manager.”

Taarabt has recently signed for Benfica and signed a five-year contract after having his QPR contract terminated by mutual consent.

During last year's relegation campaign, he only made eight appearances and has seen himself loaned to both AC Milan and Fulham in recent times.
