Leeds boss Uwe Rosler meets with Nicky Maynard to try and close deal

Uwe Rosler has met striker Nicky Maynard personally in an attempt to persuade him to sign for Leeds United, report The Sun.
The forward is a free agent with his contract at Cardiff City set to officially expire at the end of the month.
After making his name with Bristol City, Maynard has underwhelmed at West Ham and Cardiff, and is looking for a fresh start.
There is a reason Rosler is interested in doing so; he took Maynard on loan from Cardiff at Wigan Athletic and managed to get the striker firing, netting four goals during his spell with the Latics.
Maynard is 28, and scored just once last season for Cardiff, featuring only 10 times and mainly as a substitute.
Would he be a good addition?
Any positive assessment of Maynard's ability is largely based around his past goal record for Bristol City - now more than five years ago.
He has been too inconsistent since then but at 28 he arguably has one last shot before being regarded as 'past it'. He would have to begin at Leeds in a squad player role and work his way into the starting line-up, but is capable of contributing at Championship level.
The major temptation for the club would be the fact he is free, and may simply be being considered as a back up option to Leicester's Chris Wood and Birmingham's Clayton Donaldson, in case the club are unsuccessful in pursuit of the duo.
The report would indicate new head coach Rosler is being given a proactive role in terms of signings alongside new head of recruitment Martyn Glover. In this case at least, Rosler has a rapport with the player from their Wigan days so he is wise to utilise it.

Good player when he is fit. He's quick and has an eye for goal. Best of luck to him wherever he signs!

quick ? thats 1 part i never seen since his injury. think he could still do a job at this level mind. just wants to much money.
i was under the impression hes coming back to attempt to win a contract with us. have to wait and see i suppose

Yes. Quick. He's always been known for his speed. When he's fully fit, he can be a tricky customer. He'll be back to scoring soon hopefully whether that is with us or with someone else.

Not quite got the same edge after his injury. Move to Leeds is good one though for him.
