" GOOD OR BAD NEWS? "
City have not received one single offer or even a proper enquiry regarding any of our players up to today.
But Tan won't be happy,
Would you be happy if our squad stayed as it is?

It's definitely not good news.
We have good players, but too many average/poor ones as well.
Aside from the obvious financial impact this has on our wage bill - taking money away from being spent elsewhere or having the debt paid off, a big squad also means:
- the efforts of all coaches are spread amongst more players
- temptation to tinker with a squad that might be doing pretty well
- more chance of resentment within the squad, with players taking issue with those who are not earning their keep
- bigger burden on slade/management to try and keep players happy

I don't think we can move forward until the squad is trimmed and the wage structure etc put in order.

Not good news really but its still early days. We probably have only a very small nucleus of Championship quality in the squad, the bulk is distinctly mediocre. If Tan insists sales must be made before we replenish then the longer we go without sales the more unrealistic it becomes of us achieving anything next season. Lets hope we get plenty of offers, cut price or otherwise, in the next 4 weeks.

I think its still a bit early but we are doing things much more sensible so far this summer than the last and I think we still got quality in the squad to challenge its just the numbers that we have is a problem.

The first week or two in July is the key time for getting business done, so let's hope the picture is clearer after that.

The main problem is the uncertainty that this causes. If no-one wants Kenwynne, for example, at what point do we say "he's staying" and plan for life with him in the team (he still has lots of scope to score goals at championship level). We don't want to start the season with a run of wins and then sell 2 or 3 players just before the deadline and upset things. And that applies to Le Fondre too.
If, by the 1st August no-one has shown an interest in our players then we should forget selling and work with what we've got.
I actually think our existing squad is good enough for a top 6 place, IF they all play to the best of their ability and the management team get the tactics right. And I know that's a big "IF".
With Kenwynne, we are in a similar position to Birmingham a few years ago with Zigic They gave him a huge contract (much bigger than KJ) and then couldn't get rid of him because he was on too big wages (I heard rumours that it was nearly £70k a week). KJ will cost around £2m in wages for a year. Would we be able to buy someone for that amount of money to score his goals?
