A forum for all things Cardiff City

English Championship side Cardiff City have sent Bafana Bafana star Kagisho Dikgacoi on a solo boot camp in a desperate bid to get the midfielder fit for the new season.
Thurs 25th June 2015
Dikgacoi played just 74 minutes of league football in the last campaign as injuries, and then poor fitness, kept him sidelined in what was a disastrous first season at the club.
Cardiff rate the 30-year-old highly, so much so that coach Russell Slade sent him to train alone in England's Lake District.
"It's been frustrating because we haven't seen anything of him," Slade said.
"Clearly, he had a major injury problem and also got himself into a situation where fitness was also an issue."
It appears to have worked, with Dikgacoi set to begin pre- season training with the rest of his team-mates this week.

Could be a new player for us, a bit of strength in midfield!

Will be like a new signing

It's difficult to accept the money spent on this unprofessional clown...he'll never kick a ball for us...GET RID NOW

Hope he is fit for next season. If he is he could be on of our best players.

Yeah, the £0 transfer we paid seems way to high for this knob jockey..

It was interesting hearing John Terry talking about how he went back into training two weeks early last year to repond to mourinho questioning his fitness and age , he then managed to play every minute of last season, let's hope Dikgacoi can do the same

Agree...if he hadn't arrived about 2 stone overweight and if he was in better condition he might not have got himself injured...total lack of respect to his teammates and employers...this guy needs to sort himself out or sod off and take the piss out of another club

We won`t have spent that much on him as he was a free transfer and , although his wages were high enough to tempt him away from C Palace , a lrge element of them would have been linked to appearances and other playing bonuses (which of course he didn`t earn).
I understand he has returned from his personal "boot camp" pretty close to the weight and fitness levels he was set by RS. If so , and he continues with that attitude (without injurying himself in trying so hard) then I think he will be a very useful addition to the team in central midfield where we were sadly lacking last season.

He's a defensive minded midfielder but was often criticised by Crystal Palace fans for being too lightweight. Is he another Olofinjana? Could he only work in a 5 man midfield? He's a good option to have if fully fit anyway.

I would be surprised if he is lightweight he looks a well built guy like Medel.

Exactly. He is a machine and I for one was very excited when we announced that we had signed from Palace.
He has had a disastrous 1st season for City with his injuries but I think that he will come good. He's an enforcer and certainly not lightweight

But surely his commitment is in question after turning up overweight, that's nothing short if a disgrace. Hopefully he proves that wrong!

He could be a great signing, but as always our fans turn on players before they are even given a chance,it's no coincidence, players struggle when at cardiff, but turn out to be decent players when they move on

I've got feeling that KD is going to turn out to be yet another Massive disappointment from the OGS era.

Wouldn't be surprised.

Christ Almighty!
How long does it take one fat fucker to get fit?
We were told at the end of last season that he was close to being included in the squad for the last few games.
Now he's being singled out again because he's obviously nowhere near fit enough to be in contention for a first team place.
What a collossal waste of money.

Fitness seems a major concern with this guy!
We might not have paid a fee, but we have certainly paid a signing on fee, wages and a huge medical bill!!
Suppose we have to give him pre season but would be disappointed if we didn't explore other avenues..
Shame as he came with decent expectations but amazing how he's just way off fitness wise!

palace fan here
I dont think any palace fan would say he was lightweight.
When he first came to us he was fit and had a good engine on him, he then got heavier and heavier and turned into a big sluggish defensively midfielder who just plugged gaps and stood infront of the back four.
He isnt very comfortable on the ball so I wouldnt expect him to take the ball of the defence or anything like that, I also dont think he could play in a 442 as again he isnt technically very good.
He's the sort of player that did a job, personally I dont think you'l like him when you see how poor his technique is, I think generally Cardiff in recent years are used to better technical players than at Palace and we used to all groan when he name was called out.

Interesting, & you have just endorsed what another Palace fan, who I work with, said about him, just after he had signed for us.
What I can't understand is where the guy fitted in with OGS's game plan (if indeed he ever had one).
I also can't believe that Tony Pulis, wanted him to stay at CP, at that time???

If Cornelius got taken to the cleaners, so can he.
Sell him.

i'm not expecting anything spectacular, I don't see how a man of his age is to get his form back if he has abused the essential element in being a professional footballer for over 2 years. Keeping fit
Fri Jun 26, 2015 10:15 am
Good news. If he can keep fit and remain professional with his weight problems, then Kagisho and Ralls HAVE to play every week. I think Ralls will become even better next season and I think he is much more consistent than Whittingham and that is why Whittingham should start the season on the bench. Kagisho could be like a new signing for us and if he can get to his usual quality, then he will be another important player for us and he would make us a lot stronger in the middle. If we can bring in another central midfielder this summer, then I think we will have a very strong group of midfielders, who I think can ensure a strong season for us. Also, if we can bring in a pacey winger, then I think our group of wingers are all good enough for us to push for promotion. Personally, I would like for us to sell or release Le Fondre, Jones, Macheda, Velikonja and Guerra (Even though I would love for Guerra to get given a chance, as I honestly believe he could score us 20+ goals in the Championship. But he will not be given a chance, so we might as well get rid of him). With Doyle, Mason and Revell being our only senior strikers remaining, we would have to sign at least another 2-3 forwards. As I can't see Mason scoring enough goals and I feel Revell would more likely be back up and still there would be question marks over whether or not Doyle can score us enough goals.
Bloooooobirds.

So to sum up -
The overweight lightweight, playmaker watercarrier, that palace did or didnt want, who was a waste of money for his free transfer, is back in training already or not. Soon. Probably.
