A forum for all things Cardiff City

Spending time with mates whilst sharing common interest? The beer? The pies? A day out where all come together as one? Excitement of where the season may lead us? Some friends of mine who hate football can't understand why on earth we go to watch a rubber bladder being kicked around for 90 mins in the freezing cold and shout at the players and other fans! Lol the thing is, it's hard to explain to people who have no interest or maybe they just haven't grown up with the sport around them! Maybe they saw negative images of football which put them off years ago. But then I ask them, have you ever been to a match? The answer is usually no!

Football for many people is a way of life and where dreams are made. You learn what loyalty is all about and that you have to take the rough with the smooth. You can make some decent friends so is a good social hobby although it is not essential as you could go with your partner, kids or just simply on your own as when you arrive you are welcomed into one big family. When supporting my team, it's also about local history and representing your local area/town and culture. Even if you are not from the town in which you support the team, as long as you stand for and understand what that particular club is all about and support through thick and thin, it doesn't matter. The stadium is like a second home and I must say homesickness kicks in during the summer months. So all this said, what's your fav thing about supporting CCFC? (Or any other club you may support too).

When we clinch promotions; when we get to Cup finals (though winning them would be much better); winning big games like against Real Madrid and the Leeds & Man City 3rd round matches; when we actually sign players I always wanted us to sign such as Ivor Allchurch, Billy Ronson and Phil Stant. As Julie Andrews would have said/sung- these are among my favourite things.

When every now and again we get those perfect days both on and off the pitch. For example man city, Birmingham at Ninian Park (2007??), Fulham away in the prem, brentford away last season. The days that make supporting CCFC amazing and that make up for all the long crap away trips and boring home games!
I also love away trips when our fans take over towns and fill big away allocations

For me,it's taking my 14 year old son to home games and some away games. He has no interest in any other team but the City and, I hope he continues to support them for years to come. I think the turning point could be when girls and beer come along.

From my own experience, you've got another year before these "distractions"" come to the fore. Mind you, I managed to accommodate all three , though pulling decent birds in those days with no car and little cash was not exactly a piece of cake.

In the stadium waiting half an hour for the game reading my match program in my seat and playing on my phone looking for the starting 11 and having that fresh smell of pies.

Past three seasons i would have to say the great football.great atmosphere, brilliant kit, some of the classiest footballers that ever graced the pitch at the Cardiff City Stadium, our caring and loving owner.
Oh and i also thank my lucky stars every day that we have been fortunate enough to have had some world beating managers.
Off to see my therapist now
