Lotto

Thu Jun 25, 2015 6:29 am

Why do I never seem to win a peanut! I'm all for the money going to good causes shared with the winners but I've been doing the lottery for years but never win anything! are there winners out there? Perhaps on this messageboard - not that people would probably want to disclose. If I won the money, Id think of a few people that have been decent hardworking honest people who have always given respect (not just to me) but to everyone and give them a little share! Probably some to family and the rest would be put away and used as a salary/investment in order to live very comfortably. What would you all do?

The most I ever won £177 for 4 numbers also £64 for 4 numbers. Plus a few £10 and one £25 .
So beat that.

won £3600 on the Euromillions a month ago.

4 numbers and both lucky stars.
1 number away from the £24 million.

Not to rub salt in your wounds, I never really play.
Was grabbing a pint of milk in my local shop and something in my head told me to do a lucky dip.

I'd like that problem and at my age would defiantly be enough to retire.

I realise that a million deco wouldn't be enough to retire on these days unless you were very disciplined with the money and purely used it to pay the mortgage (depending on how big this is) and banked the rest. I guess you could still work but perhaps part-time in a job that you really don't have to worry about and can switch off at the end of the day.

That's a good win but geez, 1 number away from 24 million! Mind you, you do hear of the money ruining people's lives (or perhaps people ruining there own lives) and losing the lot! Must be awful! Will keep playing and hope for the best. There's a lot poorer people out there in the world but wud be nice to win something! It's good to know of people who have though. I remember a family years ago with two young boys who were scratching around for the last penny, stressed about making ends meet and then suddenly they won approx 180,000k with buying a one off ticket! Amazing

Only wastefulness would not see one million be enough to retire on.

At the basic level it is 33,000 a year for 30 years. That is tax free so is the equivalent of about a £45,000 salary a year.

No major purchases and you could live easily on that plus save for a pension.

The lump will also earn enough throughout the years to give you a pay rise every year of a few grand.

Won 503 quid with 5 numbers,6 paid 2.8M....was gutted.

You earn more you spend more. A nice house these days would cost you up to £500,000 these days that's half of it gone already

Re: Lotto

Won £1200 about 2 years ago (5 numbers) - 1 number off 1.8million or if had bonus ball 80K

Had lots of smaller wins, 2 in the last month

Will stop doing it after October though as will be a waste of time and money

you can get a perfectly nice house for half that amount

but as you say, you would live to your means. Its possible to not have to work again after winning a million, but you would have to be careful i guess.

I'm 39 and I'd retire on a million. Can't see how it wouldn't last u if u were disciplined. Pay the mortgage off and allow urself a couple of grand a month spending.
