Roberto Firmino: Liverpool's fifth signing of the summer
Liverpool’s “buy early” policy will stand them in good stead for the 2015/16 Premier League season, says Peter Taylor.
Brendan Rodgers’ side announced the £21.3million signing of Brazilian forward Roberto Firmino on Wednesday from Hoffenheim, having already captured James Milner, Danny Ings, Joe Gomez and Adam Bogdan this summer.
The Reds have moved quickly to bolster their squad after last season's disappointing campaign and Sky Sports pundit and former England Under-21 manager Taylor says the early rush is an advantage to the Reds.
James Milner: Will be a big signing for Liverpool, says Peter Taylor
He said: “Whenever I've had success at clubs, we've got them in early, which means the first day of pre-season everyone is there.
“But you can only do that if you’re sure what you’re going to sign. If you have any doubts you don’t go to early.
“But if you have got the targets, all agreed on the targets and can get them straight away, I think it’s good business to get it done early.

Joe Gomez: Signed from Charlton at the weekend
“At that level, if you’re Liverpool, you don’t worry about paying summer wages, it helps you have a good start for the following season.”
Taylor singled out the signing of out-of-contract Manchester City midfielder Milner as the highlight of Liverpool’s summer movements, saying the 29-year-old will bring a professional influence on and off the pitch.
“Milner’s a great lad, you speak to any Under-21 manager, they’ll say he’s the best pro they've ever worked with.
“He can play in a couple of positions for Liverpool, he’ll be there every training session, doing it right every day and every game, and will set an example.”
