Cardiff City target three new players after Russell Slade and Vincent Tan thrash out transfer budget during FOUR meetings

Cardiff City are set to sign three new players this summer after Russell Slade held four meetings with owner Vincent Tan to agree on a transfer budget.
Slade flew to Bosnia with Tan at the end of May to watch FK Sarajevo win their Premier League title, while the two men also sat down in Malaysia and twice in the UK for talks.
Finally, Slade had a four-hour session with chairman Mehmet Dalman in the UK as Cardiff City reached a conclusion on plans for recruitment.
Those talks saw Slade abandon his pursuit of £4m Ipswich striker Daryl Murphy, but the manager is confident he has the green light to bring in three new players.
“They were all interesting and, in the main, positive meetings,” said Slade. “Vincent Tan and I both put our own views across when we first met and we progressed from there. By the third meeting everything was pretty positive.”
Slade confirmed he knows the three players he wants to add to the group, saying: “They are all different players who will bring different skills to the group in their position.”
City are keen on a winger with pace and an ability to deliver crosses into the right area, plus a central midfield player who can take charge and dictate a game. Slade could also go for a right-back to put Lee Peltier under pressure.
But their targets do not include Johnny Russell (Derby), Nathan Byrne (Swindon) or Honduran winger Alberth Ellis, who have all been heavily linked.
The Bluebirds will also let six or seven of their current players go, either on permanent deals or loans. They will work to bring in some transfer money if Guerra and Le Fondre in particular leave.
Javi Guerra, still attracting interest from Spanish club Malaga, plus Adam Le Fondre, Filip Kiss, Etien Velikonja and goalkeeper Joe Lewis are among those who look surplus to requirements.
Lewis, who spent much of last season on loan at Blackpool, is among the players reporting back for the new season, but City also have David Marshall, Simon Moore and promising Ben Wilson in their squad and one goalkeeper will surely have to move on.

Will take a lot more than 3 players just to keep us mid-table

think our squad is pretty strong and we will strengthen when players leave. right back tho ? cant see us strengthening any defenders personally

It would seem more talk and no action, and I agree we need more than 3 players

No need for right back. Mark connolly can cover

1 striker, 1 winger and a centre midfielder if we are going to be playing 4-4-2
Agree we need more but they are the 3 positions that are lacking most IMO

Depends where you want to go.
Peltier ok at RB to stay up. Any further up we need better and for me connolly struggles at RB even when we were promoted
Otherwise for me RB and striker is a priority

We've also got Matthew Connolly who can play there!

When are city fans going to realise the gravy train has ground to a halt, there will be no big money deals those days are gone at end of day you can't call anyone from their hole to their pole and expect them to pour more millions into the club we have to learn to become self efficient

With Spades signings already and six months of watching him drop and pick players with a most random game plans at times we can expect nothing more than a complete and utter mish mash of players by the start of the season. Many will be over paid for their skill level and will more than be happy to play bit parts.

I think you have got Slade mixed up with Ole.

Slade would not beat Ole for tinkering however Slade was also guilty of some poor selections last season. How many times did we see a player earn a man of the match accolade and then get dropped to the bench! It happened quite often with Jones and more notably Kennedy. Some of his team selections were strange.

Some of Slades strange decisions have paid off like Rotherham away he put Macheda back and some young players and we were 3-0 up by half time but yes I agree at times Slade has made some wrong decisions but hey doesn't all managers but at least Slade doesn't make as much mistakes as Ole did .

It's not like Slade has just come in, he's been our manager since October. These three new players need to have an influence on the team. If we don't start off strongly, he has got to go..

We are at one on this, maybe because we're getting on a bit. I can understand our younger fans having a different view but I suspect some who continually slag off Tan then want him to finance new signings are in their 30s and 40s. Time to grow up Lads.

Personally, I think that any three new players are going to be conditional on about six current players leaving, starting with Kenwyn Jones. If you add Adam LeFondre (wants to leave), & Macheda (Italian interest?), then that's three to start with,,,however, things, as we all know, are never as straight forward as that,,,but the overwhelming fact remains that RS has got to clear out a number of players first, before he can even think about bringing in new ones.

I'm jus hopin these three players are not going to be shitty players from these other clubs tans got his hands in. Slade has obv been told 4 mill was too much for a player so that shows we could be getting low priced low quality players, I hope I'm wrong on that though
