I really don't understand the faith that some have in Mason. Yes he is a clever footballer, but he lacks pace and strength - two critical areas where I thought he might improve but he has failed. He had limited impact at Bolton. Why do people believe that he will do the business for us now, when a proven scorer like Alf failed so badly? We don't create enough. I fear that he will struggle in this side.

Id say we need to improve massively on mason to get a top 6 finish. Really dont see why everyone thinks he will be some kind of saviour.
If we could get 1m for him id be over the moon. Certainly wouldnt consider him a key player. Bench player at most.

We will be nowhere near the bottom 3.

Don't listen to the press interpretation of what Dalman said.
He says "no key players will be sold" and the the hack talks about Mason in an attempt to marry the two together.
If you read all the posts, the rumours, see who is in the new shirt photos, who is on the side of the stadium and which players have been given extended holidays you will get an idea of who can go and who they want to stay.
Mason can go and they want Marshall to stay.

What are the plans for next season ?
Is it Slade's plans (ie footballing reasons) or Tan's plans (business decisions) ?
Not trying to be negative but just think it is an ambiguous statement which with the few words said could have different meanings depending on what the plans are ?

Exactly my thoughts.
I think the key players as far as the club are concerned are mainly Marshall, Manga, Gunnarsson & Whitts.
However, I still believe if a big bid came in, anyone is expendable.

If those two players are to be considered key, and Kenwyne Jones is played up front, then we might as well forget any ambition of a top 6 finish. Our midfield was woeful last season and those two contributed next to nothing.

Cardiff City chairman Mehmet Dalman has revealed that the club are yet to receive any "firm offers" for their players this summer.
Striker Joe Mason has been linked with a move to Wolverhampton Wanderers, but Dalman has insisted that no-one considered key to Russell Slade's plans will be allowed to depart the Bluebirds before the start of the next campaign.
Dalman is quoted by Wales Online as saying: "We have not received a firm offer for any of our players yet."
"Those who are key to plans for the new season will be staying. Our target is to challenge for a top-six finish at least and we must have a squad capable of achieving that."
Cardiff finished in 11th place in the Championship last season.
