I also never got past episode 2. Will watch it at some point but never had me binge watching like Breaking Bad or The Wire.

Damn you Nubbsy. I've got to stick it back on my watch list after I've finished Hell on Wheels and Sons of Anarchy.

Truly fantastic TV. I've seen episode 1 already, it's on demand now if you cannot wait until 9.

On the subject of TV, anyone watching Banshee also? That's a good watch too and Ray Donovan starts again in July, can't wait.

True Detective is better than The Wire & just slightly behind Breaking Bad IMO.
Get back on it & watch it through Wayne.

I thought the same after two episodes but saw how it was just setting up the characters and story. Episode 4 is a stunning episode in the first season. The one take scene where Cohle has to escape from a gang land war is one of the best scenes I've seen in TV. I think it is episode 5 that is absolutely superb as well.

The start of season 2 has suffered from poor reviews but I think it will pick up as the season goes on. My only concern is that season 1 was all about the relationship between the two main detectives. This one has four main characters and it could dissolve the relationships too much.

It didn't have the level of atmopshere that the first episode of season 1 had, but I don't think anyone expected it to.

I thought they explained the characters a lot more clearly. A lot of the reviews said that the opening episode was complex and difficult to follow. I thought the opposite.

Not much makes me want to watch the next episode if I'm honest. Not much of a cliffhanger compared the huge ones in S1.

It's on my SKY Plus waiting to be watched but your thoughts are something my mates have also said. I'm going into it with low expectations and that could be for the best. I am a big fan of Taylor Kitsch from his Tim Riggins days in Friday Night Lights so I will be interested to see how he is in it. I do love Vince Vaughn as a bad guy too.

Personally what made it for me, was the top quality acting and relationship between the main leads. That and it gets really dark and messed up the further it goes along!

seen first two episodes of the first series last night. Was good, but not as good as everyone makes it out to be. Hoping it really picks up form here on in.

First two episodes are slow. Really hits its stride as it goes on.
