Cardiff City say they have sold almost 10,000 season tickets for next season

Cardiff City say they have sold almost 10,000 season tickets for 2015-16 - and they hope the launch of a new blue kit today will boost sales even more.

After fears that sales for the new season would hit a record low for recent times, the Bluebirds are heartened by the take-up over recent weeks.

“Sales are now close to 10,000,” confirmed a club spokesman.

That is still a long way short of the 16,000-plus last season and many of those did not turn up at home fixtures because they were demoralised after the kit change to red and City’s struggle to make an impact in the Championship under manager Russell Slade.

Now owner Vincent Tan has listened to supporters and Cardiff City’s home kit is all blue for the new season.

There were 22,500 season ticket holders when City were in the Premier League and 18,500 when Malky Mackay’s team earned promotion.

Cardiff will now hope to reach sales of around 12,000 or more by the time their Championship season starts against Fulham at home on Saturday, August 8.

I was told a couple of weeks ago that season ticket sales were over 6,200,if the figure they are now quoting is true then that's solid momentum.Wez might be right with his predictions after all!!

I'm sure that there are still many City supporters who, like myself,, have not yet renewed, but fully intend to do so before the season starts.

If it's propaganda, it's propaganda. The more season ticket holders the better, no reason to be negative about our club anymore

But how close? 9,500, 8,000, might even be around 7,000. seems to be a ploy to get more season ticket sales.

We'll see true number sold first game against Fulham.

You have only to remember back to the crowd figures announced at the home fixtures last season, to take everything the club says with a huge pinch of salt!

It's my opinion but with the players RS brings in will dampen any enthusiasm supporters may have coupled with the way the team plays (and loses) will fail to paper over the cracks that are there.

Hope I am wrong but if he is sacked by Nov there's another wasted season. With a lot of our opposition already well under way on their recruitment I can only sense disaster

i think it could even go over the 12k depends on who we sign in next few weeks ,been told from a very reliable source that any monies slade makes from players sales he can reinvest in the squad ,there will be no new money but players sales will be made available

Tell you what Annis, if sales have reached 7,500 it's an achievement considering the doom and gloom rumours of 3,000 is being reported.

Sales will top 10k, especially if the signings are quality.

I've there is a early spate of comfortable wins, the stadium will fill again. The feelgood factor is huge.
