Cardiff City are also interested in Reading's Hal Robson-Kanu,but Kanu is not interested in a move to the Bluebirds.

Reading winger Hal Robson-Kanu could be available for a bargain fee this summer with only one year remaining on his contract.

HITC Sport reported this week from sources close to the player that Reading are willing to cash in on him this summer, with Premier League sides West Bromwich Albion and Aston Villa interested. The fee suggested was £2.5 million.

Local newspaper the Reading Chronicle have verified the fact Reading are open to offers for the Wales international, but insist based on sources close to the club's management that he could be available for less, a figure under £1.25 million.

The Reading Chronicle report states: "Reports suggest the Royals would want £2.5million for the 26-year-old but the Chronicle understands that Clarke would accept less than half of that."

The paper adds that Championship competitors Cardiff City are interested in his services, although HITC's understanding is Robson-Kanu wants Premier League football.

The lower price is a boost for interested sides, and increases the chances Robson-Kanu moves on this summer.

For Premier League sides shopping around for a bargain, their reluctance to pay a higher fee could have driven Robson-Kanu's price down. HITC understands Reading did want the quoted figure of £2.5 million but have had to re-adjust their expectations regarding a player who they could lose on a free transfer in 12 months when his current deal expires.

Doubt that he'd play regularly for either Villa or West Brom.

Not Premier League first team standard.
