Leicester City has terminated the contracts of three players who appeared in a video in which a Thai woman was racially abused.

Wednesday 17th June 2015

The club has confirmed that the contracts of Tom Hopper, Adam Smith and James Pearson were terminated following an internal investigation.

The footballers were forced to apologise after a sexually-explicit video emerged in which the Thai woman suffered racial abuse.

Leicester City said in a statement: "The decision follows the conclusion of an internal investigation and disciplinary proceedings, as a consequence of events that took place during the Club's end-of-season goodwill tour of Thailand.

"Leicester City Football Club is acutely aware of its position, and that of its players, as a representative of the city of Leicester, the Premier League, the Football Association and the Club's supporters.

"It is committed to promoting a positive message of community and family values and equality, and to upholding the standards expected of a Club with its history, tradition and aspirations.

"The Club will make no further comment on the investigation, its finding or outcomes."

Leicester on a tour of Thailand at the time of the incident as they celebrated avoiding relegation from the Premier League.

the only course of action a club can take and especially for fringe players, there can be only one fate for that behaviour and stupidity

as one alluded to earlier, clubs are willing to take a moral stance against players that have little value but adopt completely different rules for players of value.

they could at least be consistent and give them a slap on the wrist - if their top striker did this he wouldn't suffer the same fate.

Idiots shouldn't have allowed themselves to be filmed. In this day and age, it was always gonna end up on the net. People don't know how to keep things to themselves these days. More interested in "sharing" everything on Facebook ect. Whatever happened to "what happens on tour stays on tour"

Did anything happen about that do you know?
Did the club look into the incident? I'm guessing no.

No idea tbh. These things have a habit of taking a time to resolve.

If there's any truth in the incident, he should go IMHO.

It is a joke, it is by far the worst part of going on holiday with your mates nowadays.

I envy my fathers generation that you only saw people you barely like once every few months. What you got up to in your life then was for you and you alone.

Which is why I deleted facebook a few years ago. I've noticed I have a lot more to talk about with people I rarely see, as I know nothing about what theyve been doing.

I'm not a Pearson fan, but honestly don't see why he should resign as manager!

James Pearson has (like the other two) just learned two massive 'life' lessons:

1: He can't 'do what he likes' when representing his employer (no matter who that might have been)

2: He isn't 'untouchable' just because he is the Gaffer's son!

A fair few club's will use this as an 'example' and it is unlikely any of these three will be able to re-build their fledgling careers elsewhere else in the short term after being branded 'racists' :(

They have got themselves to blame if they struggle to get a football career.

I bet he would if he did something similar now.

so if ulloa (worth £8m +) did the same, the club would sack him and forego that money?

you're living in cloud cuckoo land i'm afraid..

Hardly on par with racially abusing an innocent Thai woman. He should be fined not sacked, maybe he had the shits.
