Manager Russell Slade will be tested to the full and City fans will demand a winning start and a solid points haul from the first 15 on offer.
Those see the Bluebirds with games against Fulham, Wolves, Queens Park Rangers, Blackburn Rovers and Nottingham Forest.
Can Slade and his team earn nine or 10 points from those first five games?
Annis Abraham, who has held a season ticket for four decades, is fired up for the new season and says: “I’m excited by the fixtures. A new season, new blue kit on the way and a fresh start.
“Matches against London clubs are always games to look out for and we have two, Fulham home and QPR away, at the start.
“The opening five fixtures in August are a big test for Slade and his team, but they also present a big opportunity and the fans must get behind their team.
“The key is that City must hold on to their best players and then they will have a chance.
“When the fixtures come out it gets the adrenalin going and after the Wales win against Belgium I can’t wait for the Championship season to start.”

Bluebirds fan Matt Charles from Pencoed said: “It’s an exceptionally tough first month followed by a run of three home games in four fixtures during September. But a solid start, at the very least, is essential.
“If things don’t go well during August I am convinced Cardiff will have a new manager by the start of October.
Cardiff City Supporters Club committee member Gwylim Rees says: “Those first five fixtures will focus the minds of Slade and his players. It’s impossible to predict how they might do because we don’t know what the squad will look like.”
Another fan, Lee Beames, said: “Those fixtures in August are huge for Slade. He must show the fans his City team can take on some of the leading Championship clubs and make an impact.
“City can set up a real push if they can pick up the results they need. If they struggle in what a really difficult early fixtures then Slade will be under big pressure.”
Cardiff City Supporters Trust committee member Philip Nifield said: “Three wins would be an excellent return from the first month. They are difficult matches.
“There is also a lot of work to be done over the next month or so in terms of strengthening the squad and working to connect much better with supporters.”
