Wolverhampton Wanderers are set to make a fresh bid for Cardiff City striker Joe Mason, according to the Express and Star.

Kenny Jackett had already made an offer for the 24-year-old, which is understood to be around £1.5 million, but this was rejected by Cardiff manager Russell Slade.

Wolves now appear to be making a second bid of £2 million – but the Bluebirds value the striker at nearer £3 million.

He joined Bolton on loan for the third time in his career at the start of last season, despite interest from the likes of Reading, and made 11 appearances, scoring four goals – which included a second half hat-trick against Rotherham United.

Wolves boss Jackett is looking for a new striker as Kevin Doyle, Leon Clarke and Jake Cassidy have all now left the Molineux. He also has Everton gunning for Nouha Dicko and Bakary Sako is leaving once his contract expires at the end of the month.

To be honest I'm surprised Wolves are not looking at Le Fondre. They could probably get him for £2 mill and he has a consistent record of scoring goals (except for us of course). I like Mason, but he needs to be played more often as we haven't seen much of an improvement from him since his 1st season with the club.

I think £2 mill for Mason is a very good deal for us and unless Slade sees Mason to be played week in week out. I would sell him.

I would have accepted that £2m bid personally. Add a sell on fee in there and bang, decent sale. I'm not sure we will get £3m for Mason although my mate is a Wolves fan and he said they've be willing to pay that amount to get him because they really rate him.
