Quinn Eventually Completes Dons Move

Sunday 14th June 1015

Vital Football

Paul Quinn's on-off Aberdeen move, when the former Ross County, Doncaster, Cardiff and Motherwell man looked like he might not sign, has been confirmed.

Having started his career with Motherwell Quinn then went onto Cardiff in 2009 before his next move took him to Doncaster in 2012. His return to Scottish Football came in October when he signed a contract with Ross County until the end of last season and joins us as a free agent.

Quinn's officially put pen to paper on a two-year contract with Aberdeen now though when reports earlier in the week had suggested that the defender was having second thoughts and backed out of the deal at the medical stage....

The chance to play in Europe wasn't something the 29-year-old was going to pass up with him telling the Official Website that signing for the Dons was a 'no-brainer.'

'Aberdeen is huge club and I can't wait to get started.

'When I heard Derek McInnes was interested in signing me, it was something of a no-brainer while playing in Europe was another major factor.'

Derek McInnes knows of his 'key qualities' and is looking forward to him adding these to our setup not to mention his great experience benefiting our squad next season too, commenting on the deal he added.

'I'm delighted to sign Paul, who has been a major influence on Ross County's form in the second half of the season. We're looking forward to him having a positive influence on our team.

'We've watched Paul on several occasions in the last few months and the key qualities he'll bring to the team are his experience, leadership and competitiveness. You cannot have too many leaders on the pitch.'

Quite what went wrong, if anything did earlier in the week isn't clear but the main thing is Quinn's our player now!

Thought he always performed better at centre back for us than full back. Will never forget him during that Leicester game when we were down to 10 men. What a hero that night!

Yes he was immense that night. I liked the bloke but he just lacked pace, a shame but certainly gave everything he had.

There's a big Aberdeen fan in my work who's been asking me about him. I though he did a decent job for us when needed.
