Rafa Benitez starts “pampering” Gareth Bale in Cardiff… what the heck, it worked – he scored!

Gareth Bale/ Rafa Benitez

GARETH Bale’s goalscoring exploits with Wales to take them to the verge of Euro qualification might have been spurred on by meeting his new Real Madrid coach, Rafa Benitez.

Bale’s future has been the subject of non-stop speculation with Manchester United waving a £100 million cheque in Real’s direction at the slightest hint that Benitez would rather have someone else in his star-studded Real line up.

As these pictures posted on Twitter show, Benitez met up with Bale in at the team hotel foyer before Wales beat Belgium on Friday – and then watched from the stands at the Cardiff City Stadium as Bale scored in the 25th minute of his 50th international game to hand Chris Coleman’s side victory with a goal he hailed as “definitely the most important” of his career.

Bale scored in the 2014 Champions League final victory over Atletico Madrid and got the winner in that season’s Copa Del Rey against Barcelona. But this goal placed his country on the brink of qualifying for a first major tournament in 57 years.

Asked to rank the goal, an emotional Bale said: “That was definitely the most important, I think. For a lot of us our there it was our biggest international game. We rose to the occasion and got the win we needed.

“Coming into the game we knew that we would be under the cosh for a lot of it. They are number two in the world. But we stuck to what we know.

“We defended well when we had to, kept the ball well when we had to and ultimately finished off the chance that we had.”

Wales are three points clear of Belgium at the top of Group B and five ahead of Israel, with four games to go. The top two automatically qualify for France next year.

“At the start of the campaign if you’d offered us the chance to be top of the group after six games we’d have bitten your hand off,”added Bale.

“We know where we are, we know we are in a great position but there is still a long of work to do.

“We will enjoy this victory now but when it comes to the next round of games we will be focused with our heads down and ready to put in more hard work on the training field.”

Reports in Spain suggested Benitez will actually build the team around Bale as Cristiano Ronaldo gets older, rather than selling him at a profit after his world record £86m arrival from Tottenham.
Marca led their Saturday paper with a picture of Bale wheeling away in celebration at scoring for Wales with the headline “Benitez with Bale”.

The paper reports that Benitez wants Bale “to allay any doubts about himself and feel like a star player” and “recover the performance levels of the first season”.

AS wrote on Saturday that Benitez “will pamper Bale” at Madrid.

Will be interesting to see what Rafa does at Real Annis. As you know I go over there a few times a season due to family reasons but Rafa has a more boring uniformed approach to the game and actually the fans loved Carlo

That's why only around 12% of fans wanted Rafa in a poll. Unfortunately Perez doesn't give a f**k about the fans and Rafa will be a yes man where as Carlo wasn't

Madrid fans get what they deserve. Unrealistic fans who want it all.

Having said that I think Rafa will do well there.

They want to win, they want good football, they want loads of money spent on players. They want it all. If they don't get all of the above they throw their teddies. Look at the way they abuse some players

Perez thinks he can cover all problems by buying the best players.

he will eventually return to the PL, it depends if madrid want to sell as to whether he returns this summer. man u are still desperate to sign him and will pay £100m plus for him.

bale himself i think wants to succeed at madrid but its not a nice place to be when you fall out of favour with the fans. its a much bigger club than any english club and the fans there do not tolerate anything less than the best, accordingly.

Perez thinks he can cover all
Not far from the truth but the fans don't want so-called Galaticos and never have. The difference is that Perez only thinks of the bottom line and that has worked business wise but getting a load of indidivuals in because of the profits they can make the club off-field doesn't always work on the field. He buys players when they manager clearly doesn't want them and if then the manager has to attempt to make a team out of the players that are brought. Bale wasn't an Carlo signing because him and Ronaldo are two similar players but Carlo got a system to work for them both last year but that system only had a short lifespan. The moment Carlo basically said to Perez 'I told you so' half way through the season he got his marching orders. The fans know what is going on and are frustrated that the bottom line of the business is always put ahead of the team and the same can be said for many fans in today's game. As a result it takes longer forhe fans to accept players who have clearly be dumped on the manager and Bale as well as others whether people like it or not have been dumped on manager simply because Perez knows the marketing figures they can bring into the club. The players know the situation even before they sign and Modric would have told Bale beforehand anyway because he turned it around big style and so can Bale.

However back to Perez, in recent times to protect himself before the next elections he has now banned certain sections of the support base and as a result they cannot vote in the next elections. To help his cause in the media he has even attempted to blame the supporters for smashing up his wife's grave!!! This was completely unproven and shows how low he would go to protect himself.
Fans pay up to £150 for a ticket these days and have a vote so they have every right to have a go at anything or anyone who they think helping the cause

Attacking his car though is bang out of order.

How does the owning of football clubs work over there? If he gets voted out does he just lose all his money?

Certain people votes carrying more influence than theirs. He is a multi-millionaire anyway but without doubt he has become an even more wealthy man when you are doing business when you are also the president of Real Madrid than when you aren't.
It wasn't just his car which was attacked but let's be honest it was two people out of a supporter base of how many million ? And that's just in Madrid itself!!!
