In reference to the thread about Hymns and Arias. I was thinking about us using Yma O Hyd as a chant? For Welsh identity.
I'm sure it was played at Ninian Park before.
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=12DsDOHzmjERy'n ni yma o hyd,
Ry'n ni yma o hyd,
Er gwaetha pawb a phopeth,
Er gwaetha pawb a phopeth
Ry'n ni yma o hyd.
We are still here,
we are still here,
in spite of everyone and everything,
in spite of everyone and everything,
in spite of everyone and everything.
We are still here,
We could use this in say a reference to the re-brand and all of the financial troubles along the years?

Used to love this song down Ninian Park

It's a shame they don't play it before games anymore, along with the original Ring of Fire

It should be played just before team comes out just like city men of harlech! Be fantastic

Please make this a sticky and someone get in touch with the stadium and make this happen.
Best song I've ever heard when at the old Ninian, still gives me goose bumps just thinking about it.

Love this song particularly this version which was played often at the stadium. Can't speak a word of Welsh but made me feel proud to be Welsh. Bring it back

At least the tune would encourage fans to sing along to it! Not a lot of Welsh needed to sing, just the same thing over.

Loved to hear the anthem ringing round the ground for the Welsh game - it lifted the team.
And for City we should definitely have Yma o hyd before Kick off .THIS IS SPOT ON. Ive got nothing against hymns and arias but its not our song. As for Men of Harlech the tune is a bit of a dirge. And all we do is la la la to it. Sorry to offend any of you but imo it sounds hopeless really.
We have had threads in the past asking for this to be sung / played.
If "the moderators" have any influence then get it played at the City. We are the capital of the country ffs. The song reflects the battle of our country and culture to remain alive despite everything. It also fits in with City's fight to retain our identity.
The main chorus is simple to learn for anyone and Visiting teams would know they were in the Welsh capital playing THE WELSH capitals team!!.........
GET IT DONE

I emailed the club before with regards to the words of men of harlech going on big screen. They listened then.
Maybe someone can email the club about this

This needs to be played before the team comes up the tunnel. The verses are really difficult, but using a recording, it doesn't matter. The chorus is simple and full of Welsh passion. Probably the most inspiring tune I can think of apart from the Anthem.
For all the egg ball haters, it has been the second anthem of The Scarlets for years. But that doesn't matter because it isn't a rugby song. It's s song about national identity and fighting spirit. Ticks every box for me.

Seems like fans want this! I'll pass an email onto the club.

I feel strongly about this song too. My concern is that because it is in Welsh, City fans won't learn it and won't sing it just like Men of Harlech which wasn't sung even though the words were on the big screens FFS !

Good choice makes me feel very patriotic listening to this

There's a line missing from the chorus.
Anyone spot it??
(While you are looking for this, you will be learning the words, so everyone wins!!!)

I feel stupid as hell, I don't know what's missing. I think your an evil genius though as I've listened to the song over and over and pretty much learnt it now.

Evil genius? Mwahahaha!!!
"Er gwaetha pawb a phopeth" should be 3 times, not 2. The translation is correct if you look. Glad you learned the words.

Love this song. Not sure why they stopped playing it at Cardiff games. Was it part of Vincent's re-brand?! Get it back both at Cardiff games and Wales games.

Tweeted them as well as emailed. We should get this back

If anyone is interested, the translation of Yma O Hyd is below. Very political and of historic interest:

The fans gathered in Womanby Street of Friday burst into Yma O Hyd outside the Full Moon & Gatekeeper on Friday afternoon , felt embarrassed then later on when The Canton Stand started singing Hymns n Arias during the game ffs !!!!! No room for rugby songs at the football .
