Always been the same, that's why I don't give to these people.I only give to the welsh flying ambulance service.A charity thats 100% funded by donations only. They don't even get lottery money. They do a fantastic job saving peoples lives by going to places that are inaccessible by normal means or moving people who's injuries are so bad that a helicopter is a safer option.A fantastic Welsh charity doing a job for welsh people and deserve support.

Makes me sick. The only people who should profit from a charity is the people its intended for. Instead you got kunts like him getting rich off other peoples misery and generosity. Fuking disgusting. I'll always donate to animal shelters, and children's hospitals, but them street collector types that run towards you flapping their arms about every 5 yards up queen street i tend to growl "fekoff" when one of them pricks gets me in their radar. Bunch Patronising twats

This is why I just give people on the streets a bottle of alcohol myself. Its easier to cut out the middle man.

Is he supposed to do it for free?

If it's a salaried job im not sure what else you would expect.

These sorts of roles should be done voluntarily by people who gain a salary from elsewhere and can afford the time. People like Branson or Sugar.

why should they not do it for free.....he or she has obviously earned vast sums of money from previous employment......and the person in the shop does it for f**k all....its called volunteering...not just for the poor the rich can give it a go aswell..

But they don't do it in their spare time, it's a full time job that probably involves a 70 odd hour working week. They're there for a reason and paid that amount for a reason and that is obviously the going rate for that position. I dated a woman late last year who was CEO of a local non profit organization and one of the reasons I don't anymore is because she worked longer hours than anyone I have known, usually from 6.00 am to 10.00pm 5 days a week if not on the road. It is the only job she has ever had & has worked her way up from a secretary to CEO over 25 years and has turned the organization from one with a few hundred thousand dollars a year turnover to one in the multi millions building and running low cost housing for the less well off not just locally but across the whole of California.

Some of the comments here are just disgusting and from people who have absolutely no idea what this person does with their pay check. Usual knee jerk reaction from people reading what they want into a story.

I'm sorry but I couldn't disagree with your view more. You seem to have totally missed the point about charitable giving. I give to charity and I do it to help the end user i.e. children, people in disaster zones, animals etc. I do-not donate so that someone can earn a quarter of million pounds a year, no matter how many hours they work.

Also lets look at what these 'hard working' individuals are doing? Cold calling and pressurising to donate, swamping your inbox and mail with emotional blackmail and millions wasted on TV adverts on Sky News.

That's not why I donate and I strongly object to money being wasted on such things. The sooner there is a clampdown and the CEO of Children in Need International is told to go and do something else, the better.

I agree Tony. All these bloody charities pay themselves exorbitant salaries. My mrs works for one here that runs old peoples homes. From the manager up they pay themselves stupid money-a real gravy train. And those at the coal face that actually do the caring get minimum wage.

Most of these charities are now self serving industries awash with money.I used to give to the NSPCC only to be plagued with three phone calls a week and letters asking me to increase my donation.I warned them that a continuance of calls at 7 at night would mean a cancellation , they carried on and I cancelled my standing order. I now give to The Guide Dogs for the Blind who do not torture you.

£234,000 worth of donations goes straight towards paying this persons salary! charities should provide a full breakdown of where every penny of donations goes so people can make an informed choice as to whether it is worth donating.

it just stinks keeping salaries like this quiet. poor people give to these charities whilst this woman profits to the tune of £234,000 a year.
