" JOE LEDLEY SPEAKS OUT "

Joe Ledley has distanced himself away from a move from Selhurst Park amid rumours of interest from former club Cardiff City and West Brom. Speaking to the press today the Welsh international said he hopes to be a Crystal Palace player next season.

The Cardiff City legend has expressed his desire to remain playing in the Premier League and revealed he has no interest in dropping down to the second division. Russell Slade took over the Welsh club in 2014 and he is looking to rebuild the squad this summer and Ledley is his main target.

The Welshman has made 50 appearances since his arrival in 2013 and has been integral in the clubs remarkable rise up the league in the past two seasons. The 28 year old was brought in by former Welshman Tony Pulis in the January window and the West Brom manager is keen on signing the midfielder once again.

Ledley had a fantastic year in his first full season for The Eagles but was in and out of the team at the backend of the league campaign. The midfielder was highly praised after stepping up and filling the void left by captain Mile Jedinak’s absence whilst he was on international duty.

It was believed that Palace manager Alan Pardew would be willing to let his midfielder go after he brought in Jordan Mutch in January and is keen on bringing another midfielder to the South London club this summer but the Palace boss has revealed he has no intention of letting Ledley depart.

“I saw the rumours but it’s not something me or my agent have heard,” he said to members of the media.

“At the moment I’m a Palace player and hopefully I’m there next season. I’m playing in a great league in the Premier League and that’s where I want to be.

“I have two more years on my contract, we’ve just come off a fantastic season last year. I’m there and I’m dedicated to Palace.”

The former Celtic player has been away training with his national side ahead of their European Qualifier against Belgium, Ledley is joined in the squad by Palace teammate Wayne Hennessey.

Don't blame him to want to stay at a higher level.

I think the fact he now plays for a prem club instead of a non competitive scottish league has had a positive affect on his game which will only benefit Wales.

Obvious that any player is going to want to play at the highest level against the best players, despite posters on here telling me that he would be happy to return to his home town and drop down a division and that money is not everything. He was quick enough to leave us, and I doubt that many players would volunteer to drop from a Premiership club down to a mid table championship side. Whenever there are any rumours about a player (or manager) becoming available, someone will start a post linking them with us. Not every player or manager wants to move to an average size club in S Wales.

Disappointing that we didnt go in for him last January really. Considering the dross that OGS signed when Ledley was available from celtic relatively cheap.

Even "washed up" he'd be better than some of the shit we've got here at the moment.

He's only saying that because all the Palace fans would hate him if he said he wanted to come back to Cardiff.
