Etien Velikonja, Javi Guerra and Filip Kiss will all leave Cardiff City this summerEtien Velikonja, Javi Guerra and Filip Kiss will all leave Cardiff City this summer

Spanish striker Javi Guerra will be heading out of the Cardiff City door this summer and joined by Filip Kiss and Etien Velikonja, manager Russell Slade has revealed.

The Bluebirds boss is looking to bolster his squad this summer but admits the out-of-favour trio will be leaving as soon as they can find new clubs.

Spaniard Guerra spent a spell on loan at La Liga outfit Malaga at the back end of last season and is tipped for a return to La Rosaleda and has hinted that he would be prepared to take a pay cut to join his hometown club on a permanent basis.

The 33-year-old hotshot, who scored 68 goals in 144 appearances for Real Valladollid before arriving in Cardiff, bagged five in 13 on a short spell on the Costa Del Sol last season.

When quizzed about his plans for the striker, Slade said: "Guerra will be looking at a Spanish club and I believe he will get one."

Things appear less clear for Slovakian midfielder Kiss and Slovenian striker Velikonja, who both also had spells out on loan last season.

Kiss, 24, enjoyed a successful spell in the Scottish Premiership with Ross County last season but it's unclear whether the Staggies could afford to take the eight times capped Slovakian international on a permanent deal.

Velikonja, 26, had a spell in Belgium with Lierse, scoring four goals in 11 games but is not part of Slade's plan for next season.

The Bluebirds boss said: “Velikonja and Kiss are looking elsewhere.

"The aim as far as we are concerned now is to build a stronger squad.”

I was expecting him to start under Ole and he didn't and fell out of favour and Tan was the one who signed him in the first place so it was never going to work for him.

He got injured when OGS was here and KJ was playing well and meant he couldn't be dropped

Crazy situation with Javi Guerra. I still feel that if he had of been given a fair crack of the whip up front alongside a a runner - possibly Le Fondre when he was playing - that he would have been brilliant for us. He has all of the qualities that we needed up front but thanks to Scott Young first and then Slade, we never got a chance to see his undoubted quality. Mind you, you can add Solsjkaer to those names as he didn't play him either. I still think that he would have scored at least 15 goals for us and if he had of been given the same amount of games as Le Fondre had, then who knows where we may have finished.

Anyway, good luck Javi. It is a damn shame that the fans were never given a chance to see u in action. Best wishes for the future. Never forget it wasn't the fans who didn't want u here, we were all crying out for u to have been given a chance. It was the pi*s poor management team that we had back when we first signed you and the management team now.

Bloooooobirds.

PS/ Good luck to Etien and Filip too. Things just never worked out for them here. Good health and good luck in both of your futures.

Neil, you may laugh about it but it is not outrageous that any signings made by Tan, which Velikonja is one, would not be as successful as ones made by a manager who has worked in football most of his life.

Managers make signings that turn out poor but I would take a managers experience over an erratic less experienced owner regarding transfer targets any time of the week.

Also an odd one but I think kiss is odder.
From time to time you sign a player and it don't work out like Etien even thoughthough Malky watched him for years.

But Kiss we had on loan for a full season and we know what we could do then signed him but didn't play him. Odd.

so malky lied in the press about he and Moody were tracking him at Watford ??

Wez I think it goes without saying Malky was a liar.

Malky always happy to take the praise. An arse licker who loved the red, his reign was about his ego, that shown in his disgraceful texts.

That makes no sense Annis. How do you explain Cornelius then or was he a Tan signing too?

I have joked about all the good signings being Malky signings and bad being Tan signings but that's how it appears from what you are saying.

The football world is changing and as usual we the fans are left behind and fail to understand what is happening. More and more clubs will now 'sign' players and expect the coach to mould them into a team, rather than allow the manager to build a team.

Post MM I suspect that will happen more @ CCFC and I'm personally in favour of that. There have been some dead awful signings over the past 5 years and that has to stop. The manager/coach has to learn to work with what he has got, rather than take the easy and costly route of blaming the last regime with a clear out and spending millions on players only to fail again.

We see smaller clubs like Bournemouth, Brentford, Burnley taking this option and you could even argue that historically smaller clubs like C Palace and Swansea have stolen a march too by making the most of what they have got.

When we 'employ' a coach he must be primarily that, a coach, not a glorified recruitment agent looking for the finished article which doesn't need coaching.

Whether it is Slade or some other coach it is time for them to start earning their keep by doing their primary job, coaching the players and producing results.
